As the title says... Got caught speeding on a dual carriageway Sad. Clocked me at average speed of 96 mph in a 70 obviously... Though on the actual ticket it says 67 mph? WTF?? What sort of punishment am I looking at : (??

Should I reply to the court through mail and the paper work they provided me with or go to the hearing?? Does it make any difference at all?? My dad says I have to pay fees for attending court?

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you ...

Feel like jumping of a bridge and ending my life :\ ...

Silky had pretty much the same recently (95 in 70), 3 points and a fine for him.

edit: but yeah, if the ticket says otherwise...

Absolutely. No way would the court be able to do anything except to tell the copper to be more careful filling out the paperwork next time..

You were doing something we all do from time to time, you were unlucky to get caught, just put it down to experience. On the other hand you may be asked to go on a speed awareness course ,which means you wont get points.

Document says 67mph, you have no case to answer unless they move the goalposts.

Aren't some dual carriageways a 60mph limit?

If signposted as 50/60, yes.

If white circle with black strikethrough then I do 70.

A mistake on a ticket will invalidate the ticket. So regardless of evidence gathered, you should be in luck.

If it goes to court, at the earliest possible point you must mention that there is no case to answer.

I don't remember the exact details, but it's the information given to me on Pepipoo when my dad was given a parking ticket with some information slightly out.

Obviously you'd want to get proper advice on that rather than believing my word... as I'm not a legal bod. You should be safe though.

Edited because I'm wrong.

Dual or single carriageways are a 70 if they have a solid central reservation unless otherwise signposted.

The white circle with the black line through it is just a sign indicating the national speed limit, if a carriageway did not have a solid central reservation or other speed signs then it would still be 60mph.

What do you mean by solid central reservation?

Pepipoo is your friend.

https://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=5

Thinking out loud, would a mistake in the alleged speed not be allowed to be corrected under the slip rule?

Quote:
Correction of errors in judgments and orders
40.12

(1) The court may at any time correct an accidental slip or omission in a judgment or order.

(2) A party may apply for a correction without notice.

This ^ maybe. Ask the bods on Peppipoo. They got the number of the vehicle I was riding wrong. They advised not to bother challenging it owing to the above.

Sorry I didn't make it clear enough.

It says on the ticket - 96mph @ 67mph.
