I was in Farnborough again last night and it is dead, As a military town you would think there would be some nightlife but there is nothing other than a Wetherspoons. I was asleep by 11.

I was in Dover the other week on a Friday night, now that is a depressing hole. Not a soul in sight apart from a few folk in wetherspoons, a bit like the op's experience.

I spend a few nights a year in the Travelodge above Wetherspoons Farnborough on my way to sprint meetings and it is just about the only bar in town. There are two supermarkets, an ASDA and a Sainsburys and a shopping center but they all seem deserted.

Actually I do enjoy the Wetherspoons the food is good and fresh and the beer is cheap, (and cus I is old the bouncer never searches me even though I often forget I have a knife on me.).

I was in Blyth the other week. Shocked

I was actually depressing, I sat in the market for five minutes to absorb it all in.

I work in Farnborough. I quite like the fact it's not got the usual cookie cutter shopping centre/night club high street. All the places to go are actually in the outlying villages really.

If you want something a bit more than that you've got Camberley, Aldershot and Farnham all within a ten minute taxi ride.

Farnborough is not a military town, it's just a large industrial park with a few houses dotted around really. Aldershot is the military town.

Worksop - Nottinghamshire

Old mining town that has no life anymore. I had to spend a week there and have got to spend another in December.

Post 6pm, the streets are dead. Most high street businesses seem like they barley turn a profit. More payday lender shops than grocery type places.

Farnborough has served me well over the years. I don't live there but it's handy and seems to offer a lot of facilities that I use.

Towns that have served me less well include (in no particular order):
Arrow Telford
Arrow Oswestry
Arrow Andover
Arrow Lowestoft

Even during lakeside week its dead, tried finding an open takeaway a couple of years ago, and a pub at 11pm on a Friday night, taxi driver could only suggest maccys on the edge of town so we went back to the hotel.

Wales can be pretty dull - beautiful country, but a bit on the quiet side. I don't know if it's changed now but Sundays was dead.

Crewe is dull but certainly not the most boring. Although the train station area is pretty shitty.

Depends on where you go. Everything but the chains (Tesco, Spar, etc) and pubs were closed on a Sunday in Caerphilly. Most stuff was open in Cardiff but it was still eerily quiet sometimes.

Llandudno in the off season is pretty fucking desperately dull.
