Hi there all i am currently on the old 33bhp A2 license dosent go full until next year Sad , anyway when i go on to a insurance website and select my license it only has UK Full License, is this my license because i thought that my license would come under an A2 license any feedback would be really useful.

Look at the writing on the top of your Licence.

It will say LICENCE

Not License.

I think this is where you are going rong.

That's because you have a full licence, it just has a restriction on it that states you cannot ride a motorcycle with more than X hp. It's not a Provisional licence or a CBT.

It's a full licence, with a restriction.
A2 is something else.

don't add it if it's listed as a performance enhancing modification.

I had a 2 hour argument with an insurance company about two things,

1) that a 33bhp restriction was performance retarding
2) that 'retarding' was a scientific term, not an insult or slur.

The only insurer that I'm aware of that distinguishes between motorcycle license categories is eBike[*] in which case you need to be Careful Now.

If the only choices offered are "Provisional" or "Full", then I'd suggest that you go ahead and select full. What else can you do? And if they don't know you've got a 25kW/33bhp restriction, then why would you bother listing a modification on the bike which might cause them to ask you for a "certificate" that has no definition or meaning? As long as you're riding within the terms of your license you should be golden.

[*] Although even eBike don't distinguish between the new A2 license and the old A license with a 25kW and 0.16kW/kg condition on it, which is what you have. You do not have an A2 license.

Yeah eBike were the only people to offer the different categories and the quotes were outrageous compared to gocompare comparisons. I understand what you mean by not bothering to list the 33bhp kit its just shouting attention, even though i do have a certificate clarifying that it is 'restricted' Whistle

Carole Nash told me that the 33bhp kit on my ZZR was a term of my licencing and not a modification to be declared.
Dial-a-quote cancelled my policy when i asked them why they had put a D instead of an O on the certificate of insurance but O everywhere else and dropped in "why haven't you listed my 33bhp restrictor on the policy" because apparently they cant insure modified bikes...

tldr; its a full licence, say fuck all about restriction, don't get caught without the kit in place or its prosecution for no license AND no insurance!
