I have bout Daytona heated grips, and I'm going to set about installing them. I'm determined not to wire them direct to the battery, as I'm sure to leave them on and drain the battery.
I am planning on connecting the live to the wire marked R on this diagram:

Is this a wise choice?
Cheers Very Happy

There are multiple live wires marked R on that diagram, which do you mean?

A common (and my) choice is to use the positive feed for the tail light as the switched live for the relay. Then run all your accessories from the relay.

Actually using R seems a stupid Idea. I will probably do it with a relay instead, like J.M. Said. If I used the rear light as a feed, where would I connect the earth to?

Btw I have no clue what I'm doing Mr. Green

A relay is simple:

https://www.banzai-racing.com/how_to/std_relay_connections_diagram.jpg

Pin 86: the switched brake light +12v
Pin 30: battery +12v (with fuse)
Pin 85: to battery negative
Pin 87: supplies +12v to the accessory

So for pin 86 on the relay, could I connect it to yw on my diagram (rear light), and cut into the wire near the headlamp relay?

I think YW should do it. I usually choose the rear light as it's closest to where I physically install the relay. Also it's arguably one of the least important lights (although you have a registration plate light... it would be 'such' a shame if that went off XD), although it has the risk of not being incredibly noticeable if the light breaks other than your pre-ride checks.

All sorted Smile I powered the relay from the numberplate light circuit, which seems ok, as the lights cannot be turned off on my bike. The only bad thing is the mass of wiring under the seat now Confused
