I'm a massive Frank Zappa fan. Not so much on his son but fair play for him to keeping his fathers music alive.

Dweezil is a proper rock animal - too screechy guitars for my sustained pleasure but I'd like to see the man do it live. Jealous.

Well, not really sure what to say.
For starters, a thoroughly nice chap, he only played Roxy & Elsewhere (which I was reliably informed is 40 years old now and a Frank Zappa album)

Well the music/experience I suppose the best way to put it is, if we are here on the great Milky of Way Galaxy, then what I heard last night was on Andromeda 10 3 million light years away, what the actual fuck did I listen to? I really do not know.

Now I am sure everyone knows who Frank Zappa is (as a name) but I am sure some of you have ever heard his music, and only know Dweezil from as said by Keggy, The Running Man.

For example, there was a song called Flakes, allow me to give you some lyrics from the song

Flakes! flakes!

They can't fix yer brakes
You ask 'em, "where's my motor? "
"well, it was eaten by snakes..."
You can stab 'n' shoot 'n' spit
But they won't be fixin' it
They're lyin' an' lazy
They can be drivin' you crazy

I'm a moron, 'n' this is my wife
She's frosting a cake
With a paper knife
All what we got here's
American made
It's a little bit cheesey,
But it's nicely displayed
Well we don't get excited when it
Crumbles 'n' breaks
We just get on the phone
And call up some flakes
They rush on over
'n' wreck it some more
'n' we are so dumb
They're linin' up at our door
Well, the toilet went crazy
Yersterday afternoon
The plumber he says
Never flush a tampoon!
This great information
Cost me half a week's pay
And the toilet blew up
Later on the next day

Or perhaps you might like Broken hearts are for assholes, anything in brackets is someone else just talking in the song (?)

And Dagmar (Without a doubt, the ugliest sonofabitch I ever saw in my life) was his name
(One two three four)
The whiskers sticking out from underneath of his pancake make-up (And yet, he was a beautiful lady) nearly drove you insane
(Lets talk about leather)
And so you kissed a little sailor (Tex Abel, starring in the latest Shepperton production) who had just blew in from Spain
(Sir Richard Pump-a-loaf)
You sniffed the reeking buns of angel (The story of a demented bread-boffer) and acted like it was cocaine
(Cucumber pud annexed to a fine whole-wheat loaf)

You say you can't live with what you been through
Well, ladies you can be an asshole too
You might pretend you aint got one on the bottom of you
But don't fool yourself girl, it’s lookin’ at you
Don't fool yourself girl, it’s winkin’ at you
Don't fool yourself girl, it’s blinkin’ at you
That's why I say, “I’m gonna ram it, ram it, ram it ram it up your poop chute” (Corn hole)
Ram it, ram it, ram it, ram it up your poop chute (Fist fuck)
Ram it, ram it, ram it, ram it up your poop chute (Wrist-watch; Crisco)
Ram it, ram it, ram it, ram it up your poop chute (Pud)
Don't fool yourself girl, it’s goin’ right up your poop chute
Don't fool yourself girl, it’s goin’ right up your poop chute

Yeah, what the hell? And the music whilst mostly good it goes off on random tangents, I don't think there are enough drugs out there you could take at one time to make everything sound good, sorta flow, but sound like Zappa.

It was certainly an experience, my only criticism would be the drums were too loud and not very good, I took a few videos and they are all clear until the guy on the drums starts banging away, seriously it sounded like a 5 year olds first time on drums

Sheila something or other, Alto and Tenor Saxamaphone, flute, keyboard, singing fantastic, very very talented.

Anyway a few pictures before my phone died

This was all Franks stuff that was being played, seems to not be that far off what Frank sounded like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3NFhzHxwc8

I can't say it was for me and I can't say it wasn't for me, I didn't dislike it but I don't think I am going to run out and buy the album I think it's mostly because I have no idea what the hell I was listening to

That said cool concert, Dweezil gave a lot of back stories to the tracks and how/why they were created and his thoughts on them, like The Torture Never Stops would be a great scratch and sniff book for kids. He brought a young boy up on stage for his birthday, put his guitar around him and helped him play a blues riff in A, I thought that was kinda cool,

Frank was an aquired taste. He wasnt for everyone. Trouble is you cannot just go out and buy the album, he released, including live and compilation albums, well over 60 releases.

Some are fantastic, Joes Garage, Sheik Yerbouti, Overnite sensation. Some were really dodgy. But if you can get into him you're in for a treat. Fantastic guitarist. Very clever and fought for the anti censorship we have today.

My ex was really into Zappa, he used to play a lot of his stuff. I never got into it tho, no matter how hard I tried to like it. I found it too weird, but I like stuff like Tangerine Dream Shocked (and that was without any drugs involved).
