I did same mate. 7x4 shed then dug through base of shed into concrete underneath about 1ft deep, chucked in some cement and then ground anchor left to set for 24 hrs. Then put shed base back down with a slot in it for the anchor to good through.
Then a nice almax series 4 chain to finish off! ____________________ Current bike: Honda CBR 1100xx |

Is it a wooden shed? if so - are you willing to lose a couple of inches inside?
Grab some ply to line the inside with. If it's a wooden shed it's REAL easy to shimmy a couple of boards off the outside to get in. Between the shed wall and the ply, get some chicken wire and attach it to the shed frame and wherever you feel basically. Make sure you cover the entire interior though. Theives are happy to get into a shed, but if there's chicken wire/mesh, they've got to cut through all of that and still get cut up getting in
Security on the bike is good, but make sure you look at access points and upgrade them. If you only have one door in/out, upgrade the hinges (nothing easier than pulling hinges off a door and then the door falls out) and upgrade any locks. try and get locks that cover their own mounting bolts |

Does anyone know of a PIR alarm/light (not really bothered if attached to a light) that can send a wireless alert to a receiver in the house?
Ok, not much use outside with prowling cats/wildlife but fitted inside may be helpful. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

That is no longer a Bike Shed mate.
What you have described is a Fallout shelter for when Hitler drops the A bomb.
And..... The more you tart up security the more it becomes attractive to scrots who believe no one would put so much security on just a spade and a wheel barrow, there must be a fancy bike in there. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

I'd be cautious of over-doing it around the garden particularly, a house with alarms and wires and cameras all over the gates and walls indicates something really valuable.
But within and around the shed itself i'd go all out. As mentioned almax chain through a good ground anchor [can get lots of cheap 'Y' anchors on ebay] cemented in under the base of the sheds a good'un. PIR alarm internally is brilliant linked upto your phone or similar in the house - heavily grease the surround of it though or any spiders that get inside can become an issue even with the sensitivity decreased.
Besides that so long as you remember to unplug the things a rape alarm is a good and cheap initial detereant - i've gone with an alarmed bike and disc lock in the past personally just because i dont trust myself to not forget/accidently set off the rape alarms
One thing to be aware of either way is if they DO get in the shed and disable/avoid the alarms etc - its a perfect place with the doors shut to get on with what they want to do in releative privacy, so make sure the security you put in is adequate |
