FAO: - Young 600 Hornet owners.

I know there are a few of you about Dr Nick, Jay122345676 etc... Who have a hornet, how much are you generally paying for insurance as getting a bike like this is what I am considering for when I pass my test. I will be 17 with hopefully 1 years NCB and living in Zone A area.

I was insured on a 2001 Hornet at 17 at £790 tpft with 3 points and a £600 claim. Gonna be a bit more next year as i will have an SP30 too. Mine is in a locked shed in an Ok area, I reckon you could get it for £700ish easy?.

I'm 20 with 2 years NCB, second to lowist risk area, garraged alarm. cost £355 to insure tpf+t, unlimited mileage, legal, riding other bikes... load of other stuff. £250 excess.
My renewal was >£800 i called loads of people and played the best two off against each other. CIA won in the end by taking ~£150 off of there original quote and halfing the excess.

I had the FI-International carb restrictors. I was very happy with the bike restricted. I did 3 track days at cadwell and I was making quite a few overtakes. The only reason i had them removed was for a track day at snetterton where i felt i needed a bike with higher top speed.

They can be had for incredibly cheap!!! I mite think about getting one as opposed to the SV and Bandit due to their ease of maintenance! I reckon i'd settle for a '00 model, put on a scorpion pipe and acerbis front light and a bellypan, is it comfortable for mid-speed touring might i ask?

Well I have sat as pillion and the ride was so smooth, also I was told that they use the same rear tyre as Fireblade and they are mighty wide. I have sat on a number of 600's but this is IMO one of the comfiest.

Or consider saving some money and get a Bandit, not quite as quick but cheaper so better for wheelie practice.

Bandit 6 with a full system wont be down that much on the Hornet's power. Extra money for Renthals and crash bungs too.

If however, unlike me, you are a bit more sensible then just get the Hornet.

I bought a brand new black Hornet around a month ago. I payed 4.6k (list price is 5.2k). I've just passed my direct access and I'm paying £600 fully comp. I do have 1 year no claims bonus and I'm 26.

The bike is sooo much fun. I can't wait for the summer. My planned mods are a new exhaust, belly pan, hugger and maybe some renthals.

I tried a bandit but found it much heaver. I'm only small so this concerned me a little. The bandit is around 20-30kg heaver and down in power.
Anyway hornets Rox and bandits Sux!
