Wondering if anyone has a cable-holding bolt thingy lying around in their junkbox? The one I need is 5mm across the flats, which seems pretty rare as all the ones I've come across seem to be larger 6mm ones. One of my mate has a whole back yard of junk bikes and we couldn't find one to fit.

If anyone has one they can part with, a few quid via paypal and Karma will be happily given as compensation.

Just file half a mm off each side.

Or spend 2 minutes on ebay

EDIT:
What I would suggest is doing yourself a favour and blowing a tenner on a nice set of double action callipers, unless it is a historic bike of some sort that needs to have a well worn and manky, bottom of the range shimano calliper fitted.

Found you a good bargain here

I wouldn't have made it to ebay.

Just the tool box for a file

Cheers for the ebay link, I did have a gander but was searching for completely the wrong keywords.

If the bike was a keeper, I'd definitely just spend out on some decent calipers. I have two bikes, my mtb-framed touring bike, and this 27" road bike that is far too small framed for me. While I've dreams of getting 700c wheels for it and building a road bike, it just doesn't seem to make sense to invest money in a bike that is fundamentally flawed for me. Which relegates it to the position of my general going-around-town bike which I run as cheap as possible.

I've been going around with just one shit shimano caliper for about a year now, it just makes it a bit more sellable if it has two working brakes.
