well after a long think i have decided to part ex my aprilia rs125(great bike) in for an rvf 400,the main reason for this is that my aprilia can be bloody annoying when it comes to getting parts(prices, waiting time), and i cant work on it as my warranty will be void, other than that there great along with all other 125s but i want something a bit more reliable and something with more of a growl.I am looking at some of the bikes on the boxhillmotorcycles website anf they looki like minters at around £4000 which is what i am willing to pay.
As i am still on a restricted license does anyone know what the performance on a 33hp 400 will be like or should i just take the restricter out when its fitted.

Hi

For the RS if you need engine spares speak to Peter Knight on 0176 141 4106. He is a Rotax specialist, very friendly and helpful, cheaper than Aprilia dealers and also keeps plenty of stuff in stock.

For the RVF or VFR, top speed when restricted will not be much more than that of the RS125. Once derestricted the 400 will be in a different class.

If you want to ride the 400 derestricted (illegally) then go for it. Otherwise I would be tempted to stick to the 125 until close to the end of your restriction

All the best

Keith

I don't think a restricted 400 would be that bad to ride, the restriction normally just gets rid of the top end power and loses a few 1000 revs so if u get a bike with low end grunt you should no really notice it 2 much.
I'm in the same situation but I'm keeping my tzr till SEP for the insurance, and u still pay full wack for the insurance weather its restricted or not Hope this helps.
