Want some hand guards for my bandit to help me through the winter months. Looking on ebay most are motocross types.

Can anybody recommend any to me or where I can go on the net to find some please ?

Thanks

Mike

check out the cheap Acerbis ones. they fit between the levers and the grips. generally if you are able to move you levers inwards on the handlebars about 1cm they will fit.

failing that buy muffs. lot of folk here rate them, and the endless hand in a warm muff jokes will keep you entertained through winter Thumbs Up

don't bother, those won't stop the wind chill.

I've got these on the ZZR https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/251341724789?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&lpid=95&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=95&ff19=0

I wear my normal winter gloves under and my hands sometimes feel like I've had a quick snowball fight after 40 mins on the motorway but once I've got where I'm going my hands warm up again nicely.

I don't bother with heated grips, you can if you want to add to the comfort, I've not seen the need just yet

For warm hands you need a pair of muffs. The furrier the better.

This times eleventy.

On the coldest winter days. (we had 2oC here last week) I wore my summer gloves with an inner liner glove and my hands never got cold.

Muffs lose manpoints but I'd rather donate man points and have fingers I can use than keep my man points and lose the use of my fingers from cold knuckle syndrome.

They do help, I've run them on a couple of bikes. On the 125, I used big, simple ones like these:

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/Vintage-Twinshock-Motocross-Hand-Guards-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/SroAAOxyRhBS5868/$_12.JPG

Which worked better than the curvier "brush guard" wrap-arounds that I ran on the GS over the summer.

However, none of them are a substitute for muffs.

I'd consider some reinforced wrap around gaurds. Even a cheap set is going to be more useful in the invent of a spill in saving your levers (although you may of course increase any bar/tank damage). I spent £30 on a set. Then get some muffs to pop over the top.
The plastic bar only mount ones are utter shite and pointless.

Cheers guys I'll have a look. I had muffins but found them really awkward getting hands in and out. Plus looked awful too. Got heated grips just the chill on front of hands I'm trying to get rid of

What bike?

What muffs?

How long were you using the muffs?

You won't get near the 'performance' of decent muffs with guards.

hand guards definitely stop wind chill. if its snowing your still going to have cold wet hands, but the do stop the blast of the wind splitting your knuckles Thumbs Up

the tucano urbano ones have some structure to them so getting your hand in and out isn't too bad ( I was worried about it)

They're black so aren't too intrusive and go with most bikes

Well, at least you're prepared to suffer so that you can imagine that people you don't know won't have an imaginary lesser opinion of you for the 5 seconds that you imagine that they notice you.

Got a pair of the Tucanos for Christmas. They are excellent.

I don't, bother with winter gloves anymore. I have heated grips as well and together they are amazing, so so warm. Even when it was around 0c my hands were too warm.

Oxford muffs. Bandit 600. They didn't fit correctly cuz of my heated grips. Wiring kept catching from throttle

These made a world of difference in the hour ride to uni/home through winter.
Cost nothing (2 milk bottles and 6 zip ties) and again, WORLD of difference.

That being said, they did cover my hands far more extensively than other basic guards but the lack of win chill means you're hands stay warm (never bothered with heated grips either") Wink
