People are selling loads of ringing kits on gumtree, I have seen them for Runners, pit bikes the lot

To be fair, as opposed to your typical car which this is done for, for a pit bike it's just as likely to be done to save the hassle of road registering/swapping the frame over to a road legal than a stolen road legal one.
Ok, being pit bikes it may well be a stolen not-road legal one.
