Om Banna (also called Om Bana and Bullet Baba) is a shrine located in Pali district near Jodhpur, India, devoted to a deity in the form of a motorcycle.[1] It is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Pali and 50 kilometres (31 mi) away from Jodphur on the Pali-Jodhpur highway, near Chotila village. The motorcycle is a 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet. Hundreds of devotees turn up every day to pray for a safe journey, often bearing liquor.

In 1988, Om Banna (formerly known as Om Singh Rathore) was travelling from Pali to Chotila when he drove into a tree....

I wonder if this has any effect on Royal Enfield's sales in India? I wouldn't mind a spectral old Bullet watching my back when out on the roads..

Worship a magical motorcycle in Jodhpur, you're all spiritual and stuff.

Do the same in Solihull, you'd be sectioned.

Funny old world.

I was India last month, and Royal Enfield is actually doing pretty well there lately. They never had much of a market share there (compared to frugal 100-150cc bikes from Hero, Bajaj etc), however as motorcycling scene is changing rapidly in India (more powerful bikes entering the scene, people willing to spend more for power etc) recently Royal Enfields sale figures are up again - they are now shifting 100,000+ bikes a year.
