Immobiliser

After weeks of fannying around trying to find the cause of my bikes ''ignition'' probelms, it's been narrowed down the the immobiliser. Can someone tell me how the immobiliser actually stop the engine from being turned on please?? Smile

when its triggered via the alarm circit it breaks the ignition circuits it could be in a few places which is the only problem... it could be on the CDI ? on the coil or on the ignition circuit anywhere really...

Literally its just like a switch and it opens n closes a circuit... my advice would be to find where the imobiliser box is and examine the wiring trace wires to the ignition circuits and CDI etc... and see if it sorta sits part way in a circuit...

Yeah it makes sense. So basically it's just a case of having a look at the box and seeing if anything's up with it. If i can't find it, the blokes back in the shop on tues so i'll tell him about it! Smile

Trouble with immobalisers is that they are designed to be very difficult to work on, if they were easy, a thief could bypass it. My immobaliser has about ten black wires runing away from it which supply the power to virtually every part of the bike in place of the standard wires.

I saw the fitting kit and they essentially removed the standard wires and routed the numbered black wires to where they were supposed to go. Then they removed the numbers (which is what makes it tricky).

The way they work is to look for the immobaliser chip, when they find it the immobaliser (which is just a glorified relay) switches on and supplies power to the rest of the bike.
