Hello there,

I spent 1 month in Borneo last year, followed by 2 weeks in Vietnam, in which I drove a lot with a local motorbike. It was a 100-110cc, a Honda I reckon.

I loved this bike but I just can't find it anywhere on the internet to buy one just like the one I drove.

Its a mix between a Honda H100S, Honda Wave, Honda Dream, Honda XRM, Honda Supercub.

It had 4 gears, semi automatic.

Any ideas on the model of this bike ? Can you recommend me anything that looks similar to this ?

Many thanks !

Look at Peugeot VOX 110, it's not a Honda but I believe it's a semi-automatic. I rode something similar to what you describe in Malaysia, great fun

Thanks for the advice.

It's kinda what i'm looking for but I'd like something less modern, more oldschool if possible.

I love the look of the Honda H100S but I guess nothing similar can be found nowadays ?

Not new in the Honda Brochure, no... but there are still plenty of bikes that are almost exactly like 'old' Honda H100's out there.. they are actual Honda H100's!... or perhaps Kawasaki KH100/125's, or Yamaha RXS100's.

Lets back up a bit here; WHAT do you want a bike for?
Have you done your CBT or got a licence?
How old are you?

If you want a work-a-day bike to get you to and from work every day, and beat bus-fares; then, what it looks like, is probably of secondary import

If you want a sunny-day 'toy', then what it looks like may be of only import; and as a sunny day 'toy'; you can quite easily live with some of the quirks and cantankerousness of a genuine old 'classic' bike, rather than a modern bit of Euro-emission compliant plastic that apes the style of one, so why not have the 'real-deal'? Many of us on here, ride classics, and the more masochistic amongst us even have/ride classic lightweights.

They make great second bikes; and we can often insure them for free on an existing bike policy, or for not a lot of money in their own right. Tax is peanuts, and service spares negligible; and we're likely to spend more time fussing over them than riding them anyway, so high maintenance can be all part of the 'fun' and the 'charm' keeping us out of greater mischief!

BUT, if you wanted a CAR... before you started perusing the buyers guides, and looking at the colour options... you would expect to have to do some driving lessons and pass a car test....

Bikes not a lot different, and while you might be allowed to ride a sub 125cc machine, unsupervised on L-Plates after just your first lesson, (Compulsary Basic Training Course or CBT) that still has to be done, and still advised to get lessons, get trained and get licensed up at some point... that is what the 'provision' of provisional entitlement is supposed to be for after all.

So, help us help you, where you starting from, and what are your aspirations and ambitions?

Allright,

So I live in Belgium (the country that might win the World Cup soon) (close to Brussels), and I'm 25 year old.

I already have a car, and I'd like to buy a bike mostly just to have fun with it. Might go to work with it in the summer months.

But essentially, just want one to have fun and drive around in my neighbourhood, cruising around.

License is not a problem over here. (long story short, if you have your car license you can drive a bike >125cc)

I have found a couple of Honda HS 100 on eBay, mostly in the UK.
But are these bikes, generally, safe ? I know it all depends on the bike itself, and age "doesn't matter" when it is serviced well. Or am I wrong ?

I know close to nothing about mechanics, but eager to learn. Still, I don't want to buy a bike and spent hours in my garage/on internet looking for parts or having to fix it 3/4 of the time.

So actually I'm hesitating between:
-a underbone type of bike (Honda Wave etc...)
-or a oldschool bike like a H100S, or Honda CD 70

edit: your CB - 125 Super Dream looks amazing as well Smile

I wrote one of them off a couple of weeks ago. Horrible things, suspension that makes the slightest bump feel like a 10 foot crater, brakes that are about as effective as putting your feet down, crappest gear box known to man, seat that makes you slide forward constantly. Don't crash well either they pretty much fold up like a cheap deck chair on contact with the ground.

The crowning glory is a fuel tank so stupidly small even if you ride it like a granny you will get to know all your local petrol station cashiers.
