It's an aftermarket undertray which came with the bike, but the tyre seems to be catching it. The bike is running a 180/60/17 but it's supposed to have a 190/50 as stock, which seems like it would be even worse.

So what's the issue here? The bike seems to have enough damping and it's a pretty hard suspension on front and rear.

When I sit on it there's probably about an inch before the tyre hits the undertray. Is the shock dead? Set up wrong? When I take pillions it's pretty much a given the tyre will hit the undertray, especially on the shite roads.

This thread is funny for so many reasons that you probably don't appreciate. If you manage to not spit your dummy out of the pram I may post something useful later.

You've fitted a higher profile rear tyre Laughing

180 is the width, 60 is the aspect ratio (can be used to work out profile), 17 is the wheel size.

Have a look at a few online calculators.

190/50 has a height of 95mm
180/60 has a height of 108mm

A difference of 13mm in NOT the problem here.

Try again.

I'm not going to "spit my dummy out of the pram" so to speak.

So we're playing the guessing game.

Preload? The undertray is not for this bike? The undertray is a piece of shit? We could do hot or cold as well.

I would guess a combination of a knackered shock and a undertray that is wrong.

I have a few words in mind about this, but I'm entertained by pup's tack.

25 hours awake and a Snorty who hasn't opened his eyes yet. I'm off to bed now so if no one else solves it I may answer then.

One of the things that amused me was the comments along the lines in another thread about how well the front is set up.

Here's a pic of my SRAD sitting on a working rear shock with what is probably the same undertray.

The dog bones are standard I believe (they have 33E stamped on them).

That SRAD looks a lot higher than mine. I'm guessing the rear shock is fucked then - probably the original one still.

The pre-load? The bit that requires a c-spanner?

Take a picture of the top of the shock, the very top of it where it bolts to the frame.

I'm confused as to why some people think its a duff shock? The only way it could be is if the spring was broken.

Am I looking for one of these? The Haynes manual doesn't even mention this, just the length of the shocker on max preload and min preload.

Subframe looks bent.

Angle on the swingarm looks ok from the small amount that can be seen in one of the pics.

Although, it could be a combo of a few things!
