Auto Aid.
You pay up front to a contractor, then claim it back. I like that, it puts you in charge of the recovery. No arguments at the roadside.[*]
£39 a year. Self and spouse. Vehicle is "a saloon car, hatchback, estate car, car derived van or motorcycle over 150 c.c's. Motorised caravans can be covered provided they are under 2.5 tons gross vehicle weight and with an engine capacity of no more than 2500 cc."
No age limit, just that it must be "properly maintained and serviced" and in a "safe and roadworthy condition" (before the breakdown anyway )
Covers "mechanical or electrical breakdown (failures or breakages), flat batteries, punctures, lack of fuel, lost ignition keys or damage which is caused by an accident, vandalism or theft and results in you not being able to drive the vehicle"
That's pretty generous in what they cover. You may find accident damage in particular being explicitly excluded by other cover.
Clutch cable went on my Enfield, they sent a local recovery firm out. One call, text updates, good careful recovery, claim went through with no hassle[*].
[*] Except that the van monkey didn't (or said he didn't have) card payment facilities, when the Auto Aid phone monkey said he would. No drama, it was a town centre. Not so great if you're being recovered from Outer Ruralshire to Hicksville South though, so if you don't have cash, be very, very clear on the phone. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

All my vehicles are covered by the RAC.
Breakdown, roadside, home start and recovery
(Technically it's me and the wife that's covered not the vehicles)
our 2 cars, my van and bike and any other 'domestic' vehicle we are travelling in.
I had a renewal of £160 quid this year so I rang them threatening a flounce and got the same
cover for £90 instead. Much more like it. Been with them since 2008 and only used them twice after
a cambelt failure in my van. Once to get it home and once to transport the van from my home to my mechanic. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

As Baffler say's circa £25 for a year, why would you not have at least this, just in case you've just had a falling out with Dad/GF or Mate with the van is in Spain/out on the sauce etc.....

This is who I use, called them out a couple of times for 2 different bikes and been decent, only thing is once called out you need to keep proof of the issue being rectified (eg, battery replaced etc) as they'll charge if it's a repeat for the same thing ____________________ Current: Honda City Fly CLR125 2003 Honda CB600F Hornet 2008 Yamaha FZ6 S2 + 1991 Kawasaki GPZ500
