So I left my bike outside the shop front at work today and while I was on delivery apparently someone came up to my bike and proceeded to put his grubby kids on the seat to take photos.

According to my colleague, one of the kids was holding an open cup of chocolate milk from the ice cream place next door and the parent was taking photos from a couple feet away.

Finding this out really irritated me despite the fact nothing happened to the bike. If I was present and the parent asked me permission then sure of course I would let his kid sit there while also fully making sure it didn't have the chocolate milk in it's hand, so they could take some stupid pictures. But I wasn't there, and that isn't his property, and he should not have put his grubby kids on the bike. Fuck knows if it would shit itself, or spill the milk, or kick/graze the plastics and scratch it up.

It puzzles me as to how people think that this is okay behavior. What if your kid falls off the very tall seat of my bike? Then whos to blame? Very stupid.

Do I get in your car when you're gone and take selfies just cause its door was unlocked?

Don't touch my bloody bike when you don't have permission ffs, god knows what you could do to it and then fuck off and leave me with the bill.

My colleague agrees with me, people shouldn't touch bikes that aren't theirs. Silly twunt. Neutral Middle Finger

I tend to agree with your stance. I would be unhappy if anybody sat on my bike without my permission. You can be confident that if something had happened to damage your bike, they'd have been out of there in a flash.

I'm of the same opinion as yourself. 2 different instances both at the same shop (North Harbour Tesco).

I came out of the shop to find a kid of about 6 or so sitting on my bike, father holding him a little but more interested in taking his picture. I politely asked him to remove his kid using words along the lines of, remove your kid from my bike or I will drag him off. The ensuing abuse I got back was possibly slightly justified and I do distinctly recall me saying to him almost calm, if calm can be called red faced and spittle flying out of my mouth and words loud enough to be heard at the far end of the car park including the associated gesticulations with hands, "how about we go to your car and I sit on your roof? Or better yet, climb into your drivers seat and sit and play in your car?"

I dont know, some people just take liberties.

Second time. It was xmas time and I was getting the last few little bits mrs Pinky couldnt get online. Whilst standing in the queue with my little basket the little lady behind me asked if it was my bike outside, perhaps it was the heavy bike wear, or the helmet that gave it away, anyways. She informed me her grandson was out there almost drooling over it. I asked where said grandson was, remembering my experience above, and I was informed he with his parents over there (pointed towards the exit). Kid was about 12 or so. I waited until granny had finished paying for her shopping, invited the young lad to come out with me to the bike and much merriment was had while I started the engine and the young lad revved the bollocks out of my Firestorm. His grin will stay with me for life and I bet that come 17 this guy will be in for his CBT with a training school. A biker was made that day without a doubt. Merry xmasses and thank you's were had all around.

I will happily let anyone sit on my bike on the condition I am present and I am asked or I offer. I find someone sitting on it I'll rip them a new one or beat the living shit out of them.

Justifiable to be pissed off. I threatened to knock out my manager when I found him sat on my bike, that really made him look stupid infront of the bird he was chatting up as he pretended it was his. Like Pinky said how would they like it if you went and sat on their car roof.

Get a small sticker made up to go on the tank - something along the lines of 'Are you fucking nuts, 'cos I am' or 'touch my bike and I'll fuckin' kill you'.
Something with really offensive language, kinda puts people off putting their kids anywhere it.

Yeah well that's good then, I'm glad you guys agree lol, according to my mate "It was just a kid sitting on your bike relax don't take it personally" - obviously clueless.

Luckily this is the first time it's happened (that I'm aware of actually, may not be the first time) - I mean there's been times where I've let colleagues sit on my bike before when they've asked to. Even today one of them asked for a second time to sit on the bike to see what it feels like and I had no problem with it at all.

One thing that REALLY gets me though and I've thrown a temper tantrum over it before and since then it's stopped, is when someone touches my mirrors. My god, that's when I will flip my shit at you. They're a pain in the bollocks to have to adjust once let alone constantly. I'm not the only one of the bikers at work that have told colleagues off for fucking with our mirrors.

And they get offended as though they have every right to lay a finger on our bikes in the garage when they're out the back having a fag? Lol my bike does not belong to your grimy hands. Getting ash on my bike from smoking too close to it is one thing, but putting your shitty hand on my mirror and then getting all surprised and defensive when I confront you about it?

Actually just a couple weeks ago I had to replace my right mirror from one of the lads slamming a bin-lid down on it because he never bothered to look to see if anything was parked behind the bin before swinging the lid fully open (why you'd need to open it that fucking wide is beyond me). Strangely I didn't flip out at him, I just calmly explained to him that he had to pay, which he did immediately of course.

It's weird the things we get pissed off about and the things we don't. I think by that point I was fed up cause I just had my fairing mounts snap the previous week (repaired now) so couldn't be bothered to react how I wanted to - inb4 massive tangent, stopping here.

I'm glad I can vent here with people who get it Thumbs Up

See this is why I love BCF. You lot are so fucked up in the head. Laughing

I would gladly let any kid sit on the bike if he asks me, otherwise its more of the same what everyone else has said. Don't fuck with my property.

With permission, no problem...
But putting a kid (or anyone else) to sit on the bike when I'm not there?? FFS, no

...maybe they'd understand how we feel, if they returned to their car to find me sitting on the bonnet, or even inside the car??

People wouldn't sit on a bicycle, would they? How is a m'cycle any different?

Funny how bikes are seen as dangerous and whatnot by most of society yet some can't help themselves from trying to sit on one. Probably acting out their repressed and socially-unacceptable motorcycle fantasies Rolling Eyes

It would depend - which bike, what kind of kid and parent, what mood I'm in. Etc.

But I do actually worry a bit. The w650 sits there like a bessemer converter, and my mate's w800 is even worse. They get frighteningly hot, those bastards do. I dread to think what would happen if some curious little kid grabbed the nice shiny bike in the wrong place, or -even more innocently - tripped and fell over on to it. The headers are especially dangerous. Tbh, in these health and safety nuts times it's something of a miracle such machinery at such high temps is allowed to sit there in public places. Suffice it to say it would be an extremely BAD idea to have your kid clambering over it as they could easily be leaving sheets of skin attached to it. But could *I* be liable in a situation like this? Could someone do me for not having some sort of sign displayed on the bike - "this motherfucker has just trickled through town and is now hot enough to melt your stupid face off and leave your child looking like Niki Lauda".

Week before last I'd finished me weekly bimble on the huggate run and so was on the crm, parked up at seaways. It being a grey weekday morning mine was the only bike there. Some little lad was with his gran and grandad going for a day out in brid. And I heard him say something like wow grandad look at that motorbike. So I said oi, come and have a sit on it and then grandad can get a photo. The kid said no thanks, but his gran persuaded him. So I explained why it was so tall, and showed him how to climb on, etc. I then proceed to get out of the shot. Everything's going fine until he suddenly decides to get off without waiting for me to help him. Only went and nearly broke his fucking neck, the divvy!! A few tears ensued, and I had to pick him up and dust him down, etc. No damage done, luckily. I'd planned to just lift him down, but he'd clearly had other ideas. Confused

If someone sat a kid on my bike they'd have to throw his clothes away afterwards cos they'd never get them clean again.

I once had a toddler point and stare at my bike whilst at the seafront with his dad, so I offered to see if he wanted to sit on it. Both the little one and the dad loved it, many pictures were taken and thanks were extended.

I am more than happy to let kids sit on it, it's no bother for me and probably makes their day. Why he was so in awe over my SV when I was parked up next to some R1's I have no idea Laughing

Buy a ripped/knackered secondhand seat of eBay.
Fasion it with concealed drawing pins and keep it at work.
Swap on arrival.
That'll wipe the smile of Jimmy and daddy's faces instantaneously, as well as any thieves.

Being irate is acceptable. Threatening to make a skinsuit from said child is generally regarded as excessive, though. Take it from me.

Neighbour-kid did burn himself on the exhaust on my '305. In my garage as well, while playing with the Borglets.

Luckily, his mum took that position that he was a daft prat. There are a few sensible folks left.

Eh, it happens. We're not going to stop it, no sense in JizzBunnying out over it.

Yeah it's terrible etiquette that’s for sure. You’ve got to at least ask first.

I came out Halfords one time and a typical pimply gormless looking adolescent was sitting on mine sideways like a bench whilst smoking what was probably a sovereign cigarette.

I dropped my bags and crept silently up behind him before locking him into a deadly chokehold. As he thrashed and convulsed in vain i whispered calmly into his ear. "Shhhhh...shhhhh it will all be over soon, it's ok." Then when the thrashing began to cease and just as the light was being extinguished from his eye's i whispered "You deserved this". Then let his limp lifeless body drop onto the cold ground.
Picking up his still burning cigarette from where it had been dropped in the struggle i took a drag to calm my nerves and said to his staring glassy eye's "Don't you know these things are bad for your health?" Then i rode off.

At least that is what i fantasied i was going to do as i approached. In the end i just told him to get the fuck off my bike.

I was behind a bike the other day that had a large sticker on the rear mudguard saying: 'Is there life after death? Touch this bike and find out'.

It's funny how most people would think it completely unacceptable to be sat on the bonnet of someone's car, but on a bike? Oh, that's just a bit of fun.

I wouldn't quite go SOA on them, but I'd tell them it's not the sort of thing to do and that I don't appreciate it.

I don't know, if I remember correctly they take his girl home with them...

I enjoyed that particular episode, it was a good advert for "Don't fucking do that"

They weren't threatened by the skinsuit comment. They were threatened when you produced a pen and paper, started doing some calculations on the required dimensions of a skinsuit, and asked if they had three more children.

Was in the barbers once n some degenerate came in with two feral children who proceeded to run about daft. Next thing im aware of is the barber telling me they are climbing on my bike. Said degenerate doesnt bat an eyelid till I tell him it weighs 200 kilos and falls over easily. . . . He moved pretty sharpish after that.
