Hey all.

I'm thinking of picking up a motorbike again. I sold mine a while ago now as it wasn't fitting in with my commute, and I had to be sensible and get money together to buy a house and stuff. BORING.

I previously had a Bandit 600S, then followed that up with a Bandit 1200S. Loved that bike. Torque for days, and handled everything. I put a Givi top box on it as well to make it even more commuter-friendly.

So, what should I consider? I _could_ just get another B12, but would like to try something different.

THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THE B12: The seating position. Very comfy. Torque for days. Bulletproof. Did about 20k miles with nothing going wrong.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE: Not the best suspension in the world. Heavy.

I also had an SV650 as a loan bike briefly. I really liked it. Light, nippy, sounded gorgeous!

Not really thinking budget wise at the moment. Just want a steer towards possibilities.

200kg is only light compared to Bandits.

InB4 Paddy: Street Triple. Wink

I keep eyeing up the Street Triple. I had a bit of a love affair with Triumphs from afar before...

Only 'problem' with the Street Triple would be the lack of fairing. Just remembered my B6 was naked, and I definitely appreciated the fairing on the B12S when stepping up!

Looking for comfy, a fairing and a bit of character with torque.

Liking the look of that. Wondering if I need 1000+ CC again or if a modern-ish bike with 600-700 cc or so will suffice. Hard to think back to my B6 days in that regard.

As I did my IAM stuff back in the car, I imagine I'm duty-bound to buy a BMW, but should really assess all the possible options.

For something cheap and different, but with a good sound and possibly a few kg's lighter than the B12, I think you might enjoy an SV1000 naked. Pop a top box on it, and maybe downgear it -1t on the front sprocket and I bet it would make a decent enough and interesting yet budget big fun commuter.

It does not sound like you need a bike with fully adjustable suspension, huge ground clearance, a cramped tucked in riding position, but only you know what kind of thing is most suited really.

I think a 1000cc V2 would be an interesting change from a 1200 Bandido as would a 1050 speed triple, or something like an FZ1?

These are the kinds of things I'd be looking at if I wanted to move on from a Bandit and go a bit more modern yet still very usable and torque laden.
