 |

I am now a biker passed Mod 2 today at Tolworth - a very fair examiner ( I made a few mistakes ) - but I can now relax...got to give a shout to Baz at Liberty (West London) who was a great instructor - now off to Motorcycle Live (November) and bike hunting...
I have sat many a night looking at this forum - hoping one day to post...we'll that day has come - well ok only have the journey - Mod 1 passed today - Uxbridge.
Found it harder than I thought - nearly miss the slalom ...starter off the avoidance in 2nd gear - and had to do it twice (too slow) ...all that behind me now - as I have the piece of paper...
Mod 2 in about a month - due to work commitments - then the bike...
Ok now this is where I get the flack - yes looking for a HD although I could look to a triumph - so I am not a speed merchant - at 50 I want to cruise...so any / all comments appreciated...

Congrats! You got the more tedious test out of the way, all the best with mod 2. ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

I did my Mod 1 last week.
I turned up to the test centre in the car.... my mood wasn't confident.
I had to wait quite a while, which made me more nervous :/
I started the test by driving round plenty to the next bay.... pushing the bike was hard, i had pulled my achilles tendon the day before playing football...so was limping!
then i wobbled like an idiot on the U-turn...sigh
Same as you i was too slow first time round.
When asked to park up and go inside, i really was expecting the worst, but them famous "I am glad to tell you...." made my day
Well done mate and good luck for the Mod 2 ____________________ You know you are old when you're told to slow down by your doctor and not the police. |

Ace, just an easy road ride to go.
VT750 or Triumph would also be my suggestion, although if you're an accountant, Harleys do hold their value amazingly well. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Street Triple.
Bonny, America, Speedmaster, why not try whichever takes your fancy. Kawasaki W800 as well. A bit racy for me though.
Depending on what you mean by cruising, I wouldn't completely dismiss Royal Enfields either. Well under half the power of a Triumph, Kwak or HD, the performance-for-money ratio is rubbish and you won't want to take them on any sort of group run unless it's in the company of 125s (and some of them will ultimately leave you behind on the flat).
But smiles-for-money, well now. That crude, thumpy, rattly engine, squirrely rear, big-kick squishy gearbox - you're in no doubt that you're riding a bike that's an incremental evolution of a 1955 design, rather being carried as a passenger on a modern homage to one.
I've got plenty more bikes to try, but I haven't found one yet that I'd rather ride on a (non-motorway) commute or a lazy unhurried pleasure jaunt.
