I live in the surrounding villages. About 20 miles. Not well served by buses either. But you're more than welcome. I could probably give you a lift in, etc.

I've always parked in Castle Mills car park on Piccadilly, it's about a tenner a night, gets locked after 9pm.
That's within the Wall and a few minutes from the Shambles etc.

What hotel you in?

Travelodge Central York (Micklegate) I will not be using the car once we get there so I just need to park up for three days.

How much stuff are you bringing with you? Why not find any random residential area as close to the city as you can get, then park there and get the nearest bus into the city centre?

EDIT: Forgot it'll be there for three days. I'd still consider doing it though.

No problem. There's room on the drive for three cars - unless you drive a stretch humvee.

Found somewhere? Friends lives outside of the walls, not a far walk in sure that you can leave the car on the street.

Is that alright?

If you really want to you could park on the grass just outside my house on those days - I will need my drive then but there's plenty of space for off road parking. But if I were you I'd park much closer to town in a residential area and just move the car daily so it doesn't look like it's abandoned. There are plenty of options closer than where I live such as around the sidestreets in Holgate after the railway bridge.

Let me know if you still need a space.

Is York a shithole where a car that doesn't move for 3 days is actually likely to be "targeted" in some way? I could understand 3 weeks maybe, but surely 3 days is nothing? Shocked

In fact, most corners are controlled by one of either two gangs - bloods or crips - and rivalry is brutal and often fatal.

Vikings and Saxons really. Plus you get the Romans turning up just asking for trouble.

In reply to the OP in case he's worried, as long as he keeps away from the Bell Farm estate then his car should be fine for 3 days, although there was this arson attack in Acomb recently:

It is quite tricky finding a spot there.

Car in a ncp car park at £12 a day and looking forward to a bum rape in the morning. York is interesting but if they could charge you for breathing they would!
