Ok just got back in the recovery truck with the newly acquired r6 after being stranded. It is a

2000 r6
9,555 miles
So it is a carbed model.

The trouble I had is, it runs fine high revs even low revs occasionally. But at points if I'm in a high gear 5 or 6 and I'm doing low speeds it will start to bog down. I punch it down a couple gears and it will still bog down and cut out. Struggling to start a few times after this has happened. What happened today is I parked up did a bit of Christmas shopping then came back to the bike sitting at about 70c. So still quite warm/ hot. Tried to start it and she would not fire. Battery was working good. Eventually it would start up but just barely idling. Sounded like on 2 cylinders. But after s bit caught up and revved normally. But again a few hundred feet down the road would cut out and back to square one. Managed to get to a bike shop and they swapped out the battery. And it started no bother. But I suspect this is because the bike had cooled down. They said spark plugs were fine as well just a bit fouled after continuously crank it over. So head on my way and again bogs down and cuts out so at this point I phoned breakdown and not risk getting stuck in the middle of knowhere. So I'm thinking possibly carbs with dirt, fuel filter possibly? Any suggestions would be appreciated and sorry for such a long post. Cheers

Unsure if it matches the symptoms but I'm scared of buying an R6 as the early ones seem to eat their bores.

The starting issue sounds like too tight valve clearences.

Check them first, failing that it's a fuel supply (pump) issue.

I second that, far too many cases of this:

They are prone to coil issues, they test fine but break down under load.

Try another set from ebay.

Also, mine ate its liner too Thumbs Up
