PostPosted: 15:23 - 18 Jan 2015    Post subject: CB125 Superdream - Pilot Screw Reply with quote

Hi all

As reported in a separate thread a week or so ago, I have been trying to get my rebuilt engine started again after a couple of years sitting. The electrics are all fine, turns over nicely, with puffs of exhaust coming out, but doesn't catch.

Sparks look good (white, not blue - is that an issue?), fuel flowing OK from tank, so I decided to strip carburettors again to see if anything was blocked. All looks OK. However, I have a question on the pilot screws - the manual says screw in fully and then screw out by 1.25 turns. When it says '1 turn', is that the screw head going through 360 degrees, or 180? If I take the latter, I get the head of the pilot jet appearing as shown in the attached picture. If I a assume 360 degrees = 1 turn, then the head of the pilot jet is barely visible above the inner face of the carb.

??

cheers
Richard

You fucking what?

Seriously mike your advice is quite often wrong and sometimes downright dangerous but seriously this is the single most potato thing you have ever posted.

No wonder Sammy is spanner dyslexic.

Sig'd? It wants etching on his gravestone after he ends up blowing himself up one day after following his own advice.

You didn't read the question did you, Fisty?, that's two answers to two questions; but hey; if it another opportunity to waste band width contributing nothing of relevance, but makes you feel superior, being able to point out apparent error, rather than offering actual answer to OP... carry on... the irony in the 'waste of bandwidth' comments to my rambling posts is quite delicious.

I only see 1 question from the OP.

Why are you inventing new questions?

I happily give advice when I know the answer and know it will be helpful. You just seem to spout whatever is on your mind at the time and call it advice.
It does not make me feel superior at all, it just amazes me that you continue to spout incorrect and sometimes dangerous advice that people who do not know any wiser will follow one day and end up getting hurt or damaging their bikes.
I'm still clearing up the mess of advice you gave smiler on how to run a motorbike.

Remind me again Mike, how many shocks does a CB125 have?

All made sense to me, one turn is 360 deg, he needs to screw the screw out 5 quarter turns. Could have been made clearer in Mr Mike's post but it was right though?

You need to turn it 450 deg or 2.5 1/2 turns. Smile

So to clarify, How Mike should have communicated his point for the greatest accuracy and least confusion:

"360 Degrees, so that will be five 1/4 turns from the current position."

Tef should not have mentioned the 360 bit at all, just said:

"Screw out by 1.25 turns means five 1/4 turns"

Or for simplicity, 7.854 radians (at sea level).

Nope, the only question in the OP was
Quote:
When it says '1 turn', is that the screw head going through 360 degrees, or 180?

The thing is if you were a way above sea level it would be 1.1/2 because of the low density of the air.

Even if it is cold up there your engine may over heat because of
low fuel to air ratio.

Just saying.
