I had a mountain biking accident at the weekend and have fracture both radial heads. I don't have an appointment with the fracture clinic until next Monday and wondered if anyone knew how long i'd be off the motorbike for? I can get almost full extension on my left arm and at least 2/3 rds out of the other, getting better each day. Right arm is swollen but again seems to be decreasing. The bone isn't displaced and I experience no pain squeezing my fist so should be good for breaking/clutch etc. Anyone suffered a similar fate? How long were you off the road for? It's such a pain having to be taken to work at the moment!

I managed less than 2 weeks off the bike when I did my elbow. I had to tape my hand to the bar though Laughing and bumpy roads hurt like hell.

Both elbows I think you may want to wait longer.

Dunno about the question. I will however bet that your workplace gave it "Oh, motorbike accident, told you them things is dangerouse." Wink

Mountain bike, not Motor bike! I had to beg work to let me come in, one day at home feeling sorry for myself was enough and I was bored to tears. Having time off is nice if you can do things but not if you just have to sit there.

Mates being mates the accident was on youtube before the end of the day:

I had basically come off the first of a set of two jumps and lost my footing on the pedals. I couldn't find them in time to get into the 'attack' position before the next jump so I went into it sitting down. That ensured I was catapulted OTB and pile-drived the right side of my body into the ground. The GPS reckons I was doing 26.2 MPH when I hit the ground.

I'm constantly being told that (motor) biking is dangerouse by co-workers - "Don't know how you can get on one of those deathtraps, my uncle's cousin's brother's dog walker was killed on one thirty years ago."

Meanwhile, people regularly come limping in with casts or slings from sportsball and pushbike injuries, or just falling on their arses, and get nothing but sympathy for their avoidable injuries.

Office biker casualties in the 6 years I've been here:
Arrow I sometimes come in with mucky nails.
Arrow One chap dropped his Bandit and got a slightly hurty knee for a couple of days.
Arrow One got properly deaded. Of cystic fibrosis. Crying or Very sad
