hid kit, do i need the power adapter?

hid kit arrived but no power adapter comes with it ( i read the ad wrong)

do i need the plug that goes from the ballast to the h1 on the h1 connector on my bike or can i just put the spade connectors into the ballast power port?

i plugged it in direct to my 12v charger and it just flickers pretty fast but doesnt light up properly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzVT4V5S2h4

connected direct to the headlight wires using some wire to bridge the gap and it works!!

slight flicker so im thinking i do need the plug

Normally, the HID bulb connects only to the ballast, and the ballast only needs a good 12v supply and an earth.

On metal-cased ballasts, you normally need a separate earth to the casing.

I usually find that the output from a battery charger (or a weak battery) isn't powerful enough to allow the initial arc to strike, in which case the HID bulb will just flicker.

(I believe the bulb needs 20kv to strike, then 12kv to run.)

Try connecting an earth to the ballast casing, as well as the black wire, and hooking it up to the bike's battery whilst the engine is running.
