I have a cheap camera and these aren’t great photos but I wanted to picture a few memories, then I had such an amazing day that I thought it was worth sharing a few flavours of the event. I’ve done a lot of cool stuff around the world but attending live road racing is way, way up there.

Just before road closure.

The entrance to Quarry Bends – Hickman leads Johnston in the Stock race

On to the hairpin for the Supersport – Anstey on his out lap

William on his out lap. Great, great viewing here as you can also see them accelerate out the hairpin and hear them quickly go up through the gears.

A queue to get through a barb wire fence. I loved the adventure aspect of it.

The run up to Tornagrough.

Jordan’s Cross for the Superbikes, about 170mph and genuinely scary viewing - https://youtu.be/ThtsJBM2VnI

Hutchinson, Anstey, Johnston but sadly it was red flagged.

The same spot, but looking to the right. To exit I had to jump over that barb wire, caught it, cut my leg, banged my head, hurt my hands and dirtied my hoodie but no worries!

Back to the hairpin for Supersport 2. Irwin takes a defensive line against Johnston.

Red flagged, no one knew why at the time. Johnston and Hutchy have a catch up.

Of course, it later emerged that young Andy Lawson was killed at Deer’s Leap.

Back to my Superstock place for the Twins – Glenn Irwin took 4th.

The final bend for a wet final race. It was so cold and windy at times too. Here Hickman leads Michael Dunlop.

Dean Harrison. Still bloody fast despite the conditions.

In the paddock afterwards. Hickman’s winning machine.

Hutchy’s TT winning stocker. I met Bruce Anstey too and got a picture, he’s as nice a guy as you hear!

I think I’ll be back next year, I want to see Guy Martin race and there’s still half the track I’ve not seen. If you’ve ever been tempted to visit then just do it, it’s easy to reach from Belfast and not too expensive.

Surely Guy never took part in the UGP due to injuries sustained at the Dundrod 150 national race? You could always go to the Faugheen 50 on the 15/16th of this month if you do not want to wait on the Cookstown.
