I have a spare set of standard exhausts for my bike that I wish to make louder (not obnoxiously so) but not shorter. There any good guides that people have or just a case of standard take off end, shorten slightly, repack, put end back on etc...?

With regards to motorcycle lifts does anyone have one or can recommend one? Fed up of working on bikes and having to kneel/crouch down all the time!

Never done it myself but a guy on the TDM forum made his cans louder by drilling extra holes next to the outlet.

Second link is not so good for a fairing-ed bike more suited to dirt-bikes unless you can remove them then somehow avoid hitting the zost which usually run under the engine. Sad

The table one is superb though. I have had one for a couple of years.

I modificated mine by drilling the bed and fitting small 1/4t shackles to accept load straps to help prevent the hoowur from falling off when being worked on it. Jacking up to remove wheels for instance.

Similar mods mate Thumbs Up , Exhaust clamp 'U' bolts fitted to take tie downs.

Slide out storage boxes under the floor bed (biccy tins or similar) stops small bits getting dropped and lost, and you know where the parts are for when you come to rebuild.

Doesn't take up too much space really because that's where I park the bike Smile

Drive up the ramp, front wheel in between wheel clamp, side stand down, sorted.

I was gonna do this, but after a lot of searching around found a Draper lift with a pneumatic pump and manual foot pump cheaper than Machine Marts equivalent offerings even with the VAT knocked off.
It's currently a little unsteady because of uneven garage floor - I really should adjust the feet properly. Raises the Bus up nicely to around chest height and just about wide enough for ABBA stand or paddock stands....ideal. I park the bike on it all the time to retain garage space.

I clapse mine flat then lean it against the wall. (They're only about 10" when flatted.) Rock-bolt in the wall with another strap-it-on-to-me hooked onto ramp as security measure. In case the useless bastirt falls onto my tootsies some day. Embarassed

I would not be without either ramp.I bought one new and the other came along for £100 when a friend had to give up work.Luckily my shed is big enough to not have to worry about moving them around Wink

Well, the lift question has been answered above.

To make your exhausts louder simply take a very large screwdriver, insert the sharp end of it into the end can of your exhausts and hit it hard a few times with a lump hammer until it punctures the baffles and makes it a boy racer 'straight thru' exhaust.

OR, (better plan)

Do a bit of research into how to make your bike actually perform better, faster and more exciting and challenging and have a better ride as a result instead of just being an annoyance late at night to your unfortunate neighbours.

Louder isn't always more power. Listen to a boy racer car and it makes more noise but the engine spins up slower. It's all about back pressure and not in a two stroke way. If you make your can noisy, your bike may run leaner and hotter, great if your trying to save on fuel but it will kill the power. Many slip on cans kill top end and have flat spots. You have to change the fuel map/carb jets to suit. Not only does increasing fuel make it run better but it also keeps the engine cool looking after piston rings. Not only changing the exhaust but start looking at how the air enters. KN aren't worth the money, then think about timing.

Go ahead make it loud and empty sounding but the few of us with ears can hear you lot miles off and with no mechanical sympathy and just wonder how long it will be before you wreck the internals.
