Ohh my heart bleeds for them, they are being forced to pay people a reasonable wage and not a minimum wage.

No doubt they have been quite happy in the past to pay people the minimum and then expect the government to chip in with in work benefits.

I'm normally to the right, but I was always in favour of the minimum wage and this seems to be fairer too.

Tax credits were just throwing crumbs at poor workers. The middleclass get whole slices of bread then the rich get the full on lobster club sandwich with crisps a side salad and a pint.

"Now it seems to be Osborne and Cameron having a pint somewhere in Whitehall and coming up with a figure of nine quid," he said.

Quarter of a century, makes a girl think.

About being turfed out in favour of a cheaper 18 year old.

I wonder how long until some big outfit decides to only engage the services of "independent subcontractors" as minions. Just sod off the whole issue of pay, pensions, benefits, sick pay, maternity.

There are a few thousand at Calais who will work for beans and we are letting them in.

True dat. Although Tax Credits are simply a way of the tax payer subsidising business. Business should pay its own bills.

Already the case down in straya.

You'll see ad on gumtree with a title like 'Hotel seeks cleaning staff - 40hrs/week'.

Then you open the ad and read: ''Applicants must have ABN (Australian Business Number - ie self-employed), cleaning staff are responsible for providing all required tools/appliances, chemicals and PPE.''
