|
|
Alright everyone,
Thought id make bit of a thread about my first bike, my 1988 Honda H100SII. I got it last year, rode it for about a year on 'L's' then did my test two week ago, so loving not having the loser plates on it
Being an SII, its one of the later ones, its got the CDI ignition rather than points, and has the little down tube to make it look more like a cradle frame, which the earlier ones didnt. Personally i think it looks alot better with these. It got the exposed chain guard aswell rather than the fully enclosed one.
Its just gone over 9K, so its pretty low mileage for its age. As far as i can tell everythings original, never been dropped or ragged to much. Came with loads of history, even got the original Honda owners card. Its a pleasure to ride, brakes work alright, handles reasonably well, pulls as much as youd expect a 100cc two stroke to do haha. Its in really good nick, who ever had it before me looked after it and i intend to do the same Runs and sounds great, and smells soooo nice, gotta love two stroke smoke
When it first arrvied home in my mates van

Went over all the wiring and stuff to make sure it was all okay, last thing i want is it bursting into flames...

Found an issue that the front brake light switch had split the insulation and was slowly melting itself, so replaced that, think it was about 4 quid haha

And as it is now, i try and keep it clean as, dont want the salty roads eating my lovely chrome pipe

Only time it ever failed me was when it ran out of fuel on the way to work, that was 100% my fault though haha. Gonna enter it in my local classic show next summer and see if i can win a ribbon Had its MOT the other week, passed with no advisories, and the tester said i have to ring him if i ever wanna sell it, so that was quite nice to hear haha.
Anyways, cheers for looking, let me know what you think

Bloody hell, that's MINT,
Did you buy it like that, or have you worn down your finger tips polishing amd fettling it?
Look's like it just came out of the showroom! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Cheers mate. Well its abit of a tale, and here it is...
The little Honda was listed on a certain web based auction site beginning with an 'e' and ending with 'Bay' The advert consisted of about two sentences, and the three horrendous photos didnt give much of the bike away.Id been looking at a few different models, and it was the closest H100 to me, so i thought it was worth a look. So gave them a ring and arranged to go look at it as you do
The bike was in Liverpool, and not that ive got anything against Liverpool or Liverpudlians, but it was possibly the roughest place ive ever been in my entire life. There was some kids letting fireworks off down the road, and some dangerous sounding dog barking its head off when we pulled up. The guy who had the bike had no clue about it, he didnt even have a license, so i had no idea where he got it from. He also had a very nice C90 in his shed.
So the bike was 10 times better than it looked on the photos, i couldnt believe how nice it was. Did a hpi check to make sure it wasnt robbed and decided it was for me. I put down a deposit, half thinking that id never see it again and said id come back for it later on in the week. So after struggling to get in touch with the guy, who didnt have a mobile, me and my mate went in his van to pick it up. Ive never been so relieved as when it was in the back and we set off haha.
So in answer to your question, i have done abit of cleaning and polishing, but i think 75% of it is down to the previous owners looking after it. It was very dirty when i got it, but most of it was oil and just rubbed right off, probably helped to preserve it if anything. It didnt run brilliantly when i got it, so adjusted the mixture screws a tad and its been fine since |

Exceptionally clean for an unrestored 87/88 Bike.
Only advice I can give, is do not ever sell this bike, when you come to want a bigger bike. Most idiots sell their first bike and regret it, and to sell a small classic stylish commuter stroker like this even to buy a Fireblade, would be retarded and stupid beyond belief!
You will get blokes like that MOT tester, and me etc always offering to buy it off you if you ever sell, but they are only thinking of their own filthy perversions toward you awesome little stroker. Do not give in or let them have it. This is a mint bike, a 2stroke, and a very useful commuter/second bike, or sunday polisher!
Id not swap it for a BMW S1000 HP4 covered in carbon and Ti parts. |

Cheers lads Yeah thats the plan to be honest, i like it to much to get rid anyway. Theres a few crop up on ebay every now and again, but they seem to very in price so much i wouldnt know what to ask for it really. Suppose its only worth what someone will pay eh?
And yeah it is Gazz, the tanks like a cone shape, so the top quarter last for ages then it runs out really fast, so it deffo needs topping up if it gets to the window haha |

Have you had the AGM battery on it long?
Does it take and hold a charge properly?
Always wondered how one would cope with a single phase, unregulated, halfwave rectified charging system like you have on there. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Interesting. Should cut some of the spikes off if nothing else. Still just a halfwave though.
I'll need to see if I can get one of those for Mrs stinkwheels YB100 and see if it stops it cooking the battery. I didn't know anyone made a single phase, 6v reg/rec. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
