I'd just like a convenient, cost free way of doing it. Because pikeys will demonstrably pike.

Entering a registration onto autotrader's pretty convenient, but there should be an official site for checking FOC.

What, their 5-for-£25 check?

It's very irksome that DVLA doesn't seem to flag it up (unless anyone knows to the contrary?) and nor will they'll provide information based on a VIN rather than a VRM. My Dear Sir letter campaign continues apace.

if theres nothing there, its not a write off.. or at-least not yet.

and on that subject.. what about vehicles that are written off yet the marker hasn't gone live yet?

the last write off i bought took around a month to show up as written off.

Was that a month after the payout?

I guess not much has really changed: most folk would always have walked away from an A/B or anything with frame damage. It's just the minority who might still try to take one on, or who get sold one on the sly like OP that are going to get stuffed.

Aside, why are there so many cat C/D Street Triples on eBay? Paddy can't be getting through that many.

Payout wasn't given for like 2 years+ after but category went on around a month or so after the bike was borked.

now i think about it im sure it was a bit more than a month maybe even 2.

Noticed that too. The previous gen' was easy to steal but there seems to be a few of the newer ones as well. Maybe its just because its a popular bike, or maybe it has a dark secret Shhh!

I've actually, genuinely, done that, twice. Embarassed Mad

Only very minor damage on each occasion.

So, it happens, though it really shouldn't result in a write off.
