I've just had a ninja 300 demonstrator out for a ride.
What can I say? It's small, if you are over 6' you're going to struggle if you travel long distances.
The seat is hard and will make your bum hurt.
On the plus side, it was easy to ride and slick as a slick thing.
The clutch is light and the gears were easy to engage.
It felt like a grown up 125, and I mean that as a compliment.
The brakes were more than able to pull the bike up, even with a fat bloke like me on it.
I was able to accelerate from low revs, even in sixth gear.
Not a bad little engine.
The fairing? Is not going to give you much protection from the weather or rain, but it does stop the filth from the road coming up to cover you.
Just my brief ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Its probably a well bashed bike, along with the 250R, however I did enjoy giving it 100% all the time. It was like a 125 but faster. It is however very cheaply made. |

If you buy one you will soon get fed up of the whole thing shaking like a sh*ting dog as you thrash it to bits try to keep up with bigger bikes. Fun in a world of small bikes but could do with another 20bhp to make it practical in company...
Like trying to ride a push-bike too fast downhill - feels ok on a smooth surface in a straight line, but deviate from that and its scary... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Perfectly understand this bike - you've got to remember who it's aimed at. But sometimes I think it'd be nice if someone made a small capacity bike that wasn't aimed at learners and beginners; something that did have a bit of go to it. I guess there'll never be a 4T replacement for 2T fun ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I'm obnoxious but I'm also usually right. Some people just can't handle the hurtful truth level I deal out. C'est la vie. ____________________ Be a REAL MAN! |

Well after spending the day on the baby Ninja 300, I can say that as a sporty little commuter bike, it's a hit .
I can directly compare it against my my Hyosung GT 250r.
It is not really that much faster than my Hyosung.
However it's not my bike, so I didn't cane it.
The riding position of the Kawasaki is more upright than the riding position of the Hyosung and so you get a bit more wind blast.
I found the ride to be a tab harsher on the Kawasaki, but never an issue.
The little Kawasaki did seem to be very economical on petrol.
The little Kawasaki feels lighter than the Hyosung.
Would I buy one?...... I don't think so....... not for me.
A great little bike, but at approx £4000, a tad to much for me.
Just a few of my thoughts ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

IL4 400 became too expensive for beginners. So Honda made 400 twin made in Thailand. It became cheaper but with poor quality. 250/300 twins are now made in Thailand or Indonesia cause if they are made here they'll be ridiculously expensive and make no sense.
Comparing these new oversea made small twins to used IL4 400 like CB400SF in quality/price is not a fair match imo. We can't buy used IL4 400s forever. I expect such small twins will be made with better quality soon. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

| Paul Fzs wrote: | you can sit in london for 240 days with the £3k you save.
not to mention the fact the zzr is less attractive to thieves.
wemoto has tons of parts for the zzr 250
insurance for me is £15 more the year on the 300
zzr does 105 mph top speed and 55mpg
ninja 300 does 106 at 50mpg
zzr = carb less to go wrong
ninja 300 = fi and computers everywhere. |
So in less than a year, the ZZR works out to be more expensive than the 300? I thought you were making the point of saving money?
Besides, out of principle, you wouldn't pay TFL £12.50 a day for the privilege of breathing taxi exhaust and cyclist farts? Would you?
While there are many parts still available for the ZZR, there are also many other parts that aren't. Between paying a premium for new bike parts that have good availability, or trawling ebay and the breakers for parts for an older bike? It's a tough one, but I would seriously consider paying more to minimise the faff.
£15 - , peanuts compared to what the cartels are charging me
Lets stay focused, we're taking about my choice of the 300 over the ZZR as a commuter. Top speed is irrelevant, the fastest I can possibly go is about 35mph and that's on a good day.
You're implying that a 20 year old bike is more reliable than a 2 year old bike? Lol wut?
I can't disagree about the problem with thieves, despite this, I'd still choose the 300 over the ZZR. |
