I've nabbed a copy of some nice mailing list software from work, so I'm offerring to actually manage the list - the signups and the removes and so on.

Someone said they were up for building the registration form - that's cool, it just needs to send a mail to this system (i can set up a pop box) and the software processes the details into a database. Same for unsubscribes.

Means we can do personalisation stuff and all that new fangled nonsense if we want to.

Plus, I'm on ADSL so sending out the newsletters is not a problem.

In the long run we'll probably just write something in php (it's actually really easy to do... thus the hordes of untraceable spam aroud Sad ).... but that would be usefull to start with.

you sound like someone in our office... why use a pre-built, tested version when you can have the pain of building one yourself (in our case, at 100 times the price!) Laughing

In the long run if we are writing all the bits for submitting it etc, it make sense to add something into email it... the actual emailing bit shouldn't take half an hour to make.... especially if we're gonna have web based submission etc.
But all of this is assuming people haven't lost interest after the first issue.

If it's gonna be free, then I don't see the problem with using EB's software...but it isn't gonna be too hard to make our own, and since we're not gonna market it, we don't need to worry about standards and documentation etc...so it shouldn't cost us nuffin' Very Happy
