First and last bike trackday I did was a Ron Haslam race school one at Donington, on the school bike (CBR600RR) - must have been 8-9 yrs ago??? I was rubbish, and they almost demoted me to the CB500 Embarassed

Anyway, got two booked now for this summer, Mallory and Cadwell. That only takes me to Mid July so scope for more if I've actually managed to not be so crap.

If I get the bug I'm considering retiring the CBR from touring duties and keeping it for circuits and the odd countryside scratch

One would argue that the Ron Haslam race school is not a proper trackday... but what the heck!

I'd say it's pretty pointless doing a 'race' school if you've not ridden on track at all before. You might find it more fun than the Ron Haslam, and certainly cheaper.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

True - it was advertised as novice friendly with some tuition but it was hella expensive and I didn't get much out of it

Mallory and Cadders are both with a pal who used to race (cbr steelies) who will hopefully give me some more useful pointers!
