Sold my R6 04 last December to raise funds for wedding however i've been pleasantly surprised by my fiancées family donating loads of money towards it!

So I'm back on the market, budget is around £3000 as I need to buy some new gear as well as I tossed loads out. This is £3k purely for the bike, insurance, tax and gear I will fund separately.

I'm looking at pretty much all sport bikes but I love an underseat can so this kind of limits me to 03-07 RR's, Daytona 675s, ZX6Rs 05-09 and thats about it right?

Out of the bikes above the nearest I can find to budget is a ZX6R and there seems to be loads of them so don't need to jump at the first one. Is there any particular reason the ZX6R is cheaper than the others?

Anyway, I don't mind going bigger e.g litre bike but bare in mind the budget!

You can get them in budget yeah but they might be "seasoned" e.g 20k miles. I was referring to the models which have an underseat can though. I highly doubt i'd get an 07 RR for 3k, more likely an 03 04.

fair enough. I just sold my GSR750 so have about 4.5k to spend. Insurance isn't being as cooperative as I would have liked so am limited on choice

If your interested I may well sell my 06 675 daytona for around 3k. It has just ticked over 30k but it's a well looked after machine in a nice red colour with some flashes of carbon thrown in for good measure.

Only reason I would sell is I'm chewing the fat over a new ducati.

What sort of riding will it get? Year round commuting, weekend blasts, trackdays?

Part of why I went for the GSXR1000 for commuting was because the GSXR was considered the most 'comfortable' of the class.
I would guess the same would be true of the 600s.
What sort of roads would the regular be on? The 600s tend to be not great really low down - ie below 15mph say. So lots of traffic may be less good.
Think the 675 is a bit better, but haven't commuted on one (mine is a track bike only and riding on the road has just been geeral riding). However, even stock the riding position is pretty 'racey'.

I'd be considering a GSXR750/GSXR1000, but I'd prefer the 600 class for 'fun' over the bigger bikes.

I've had 2 zx6r b1h (2003/2004 model) and probably the most fun bike I've owned. Fine for a 40 mile round trip commute but much better for weekend thrashing.

I paid 3700 in January 2008 for a mint low mileage one with tarty bits. This got shipped abroad when I sold it.

I then paid 1700 at the beginning of 2011 for a low milage blue one with even more tarty bits. Someone on here bought it from me.

I had a j zx6r but it just felt big and heavy after the first b1h. I didn't like it at all.


I am a short arse at around 5ft 6 though.
