I wish. I really wish it didn't irritate the piss out of me, but it does. I'm sat here in a small pool of urine because James "Depth Perception" Whittam cannot successfully name a motorcycle.

"Feel sorry for the little CBR Hondas round here"

The MODEL is CBR, the MANUFACTURER is HONDA. You say the MANUFACTURER BEFORE THE MODEL NAME!!!oneeleventy

He's not alone, that leather-jowelled curly headed dinosaur does it a lot too.

If anyone 'knows' either of them, tell them casually to stop it. Please.

"Oohh fast through there"
"Through Balla-scary. hohoho"

Racers often don't know a great deal about the kit they are riding, in the same way as the actors who play roles on geeky shows don't know every detail about the plot. As far as they are concerned it's a Honda 600.

I happen to like Witham, he's a proper racer, and by all accounts is a properly nice man. I could watch the ITV4 TT coverage over and over again, it's that good. They don't even have any annoying people to put a fly in the ointment. Parrish has always been good.

Horses for courses I guess, but I've definitely heard less knowledgeable commentators on motorcycle racing coverage.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Agreed in liking Whitham, involved in classic bike and rebuilding them along with Niall Mackenzie in Classic motorcycle mechanics so think he has a pretty decent mechanical knowledge (and a much bette riding knowledge) than most.

You should try watching moto GP and then you'll love the commentators and rear racers/bike fans covering the TT.

I can only stand the high lights from all moto GP rounds now, as Hodgeson and Emmet etc have ruined the coverage for me.

Oh and parish and Cox might have been old, made mistakes and talked some shit, but they were a million times better than the current TV presenting format.

I'd rather have the lot on the TT coverage, than some of the wankers that do free-to-view F1.

This old chestnut. Can't imagine there will be a consensus on who is good/bad.

So it's a personal thing.
Whitham - Can grate but good on starting grid. Has current skills/knowledge, can spanner.

Parrish - Does grate and omnipresent. Boring.

Cox - Annoying.

Burnacle - Can grate, fountain of trivia. Passionate. Massive 2 wheel fan and invests time with race crews.

Heuwen - Passion/sarcasm. Usually honest and can read a race.

Ryder - Bland style but can be passionate (heard his lip wobble during Salom tributes) Lives bikes all year round.

Edwards - Entertaining but predicable - Boom! Cards always close to chest, so little insight gained.

Doyle - Good anchor and doesn't appear to rely on producers like Suzi.

Hodgson - Grates at times and comes across as over-friendly. Average on the grid walks.

Emmett - Encyclopedia and gives a good insight into teams but too many twee comments and firmly on the fence at all times.

Why can't there be a concensus on here of who is good and who is bad though?

Some TV presenters and bike sport commentators are just plain shit, some are total wankers (looking at you Hogeson) and some of them are passionate, knowledgeable and friendly.

You make it sound like they are all as bad as each other, and that they all have their strengths and weaknesses? You either like someone or they are a cunt it's as simple as!

I hope you've managed to make your mind up on the EU vote as it sounds like you struggle to make a decision about anything?

I don't get too riled-up about commentators and I've met some cunts with an attitude/approach that I admire. Suspect that most of my sporting heroes and musical heroes are complete twats. Thumbs Up Thumbs Down

EU. I'm in.
