Insurance for crashing your bike?

What bike and what's it market value?

Generally the insurance has harsh limits and a nasty excess, so I wouldn't bother personally.

Insurance for crashing the bike & doing myself some serious injury. The bike is a 4 year old CBR 600.
Or does that not work?!

excess is normally around £1500+ and and various other restrictions which essentially make it pointless. Think it was 3rd party only available too, but could be wrong on that.

I've just tried googling for the restrictions as its been years since i looked into it and not a single site actually tells you the details (i wonder why) unless you phone for a quote.

by all means try the usual places. a lot of normal insurers do trackday insurance. carole nash, sky etc.. or even sorrymate that no limits recommend, but I think the conditions are just too restrictive to be of any real use.

Two separate things.

There's a new company doing personal accident insurance that covers bike-sport; most don't.

A quick look shows the first result having the minimum of a £750 excess.

Vast majority of the time you won't have to spend that much to sort a spill - ie a low side can just be a few scratches.

If you're particularly bothered, can always hire a bike. There will still be an excess, but typically a good bit less.

If you make a point of only increasing speed a little at a time, you should be fine - it's those that suddenly go fast or try a massively different line that are likely to crash.
