|
|
So, following on from the thread link below....
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=302474
It's just over a year ago from when I originally caught the ghey. I enjoyed riding the Bobber with its low down riding position and the whole ergonomics of the thing. A few months after obtaining it, with the threat of commuting via bike looming, I sold it on to obtain a work horse.
Now I'm in a position where I can have another machine without having to think about how the elements will destroy it! I've thought long and hard about posting this as I know how much these particular machines are not liked by the majority of this forum, but I've got to come clean sooner or later. I've lubed up and am prepared for a grilling and know the haters gonna hate.
So, here she is in completely standard form........ but not for long!
My Harley Davidson Street Bob Special Edition.

She's an absolute beauty, I'm eyeing up an 883 or a forty-eight myself after only riding jap bikes previously. Test rode an 883 on the weekend and finally 'got it' as you said, there's just something about a Harley...it's a HARLEY!
I disagree on their reliability and keeping them in good condition, from what I've read the newer ones are just as reliable as jap bikes. The build quality on the 883 was actually really good, I've seen worse on Honda and kawasaki.
Anyway, I'm waffling. You'll love the thing, especially for in the sun! Get some Remus cans on it and it'll be perfect! ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50...--Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N
SlimRick - I can cook really well - but it's a useless skill, as I'm not a woman and it's their fucking job! |

It is indeed like a meaty Sportster! It's not overly massive, but has a bit more punch.

Glad you "got it" so to speak. Did take a good few years for it to click with me! The '48 is a great looking bike

I've searched and searched, but just can't find them!!!!!!!!!!
stevo as b4 wrote: | The other most kindest thing I can say about the HD sportsters is that they look fairly minimalist, which is good and like they are just so engine, seat, peanut tank and some bits of tubing wrapped around them.
Componentry wise I've never understood why they use so much in house stuff and parts, it must be for style, as outsourcing parts would have to be cheaper I would think? |
Yes, it may be for the styling. It could be cost effective using in house parts as they may use the parts throughout their range, like brake calipers for example. ____________________ Previous Ride's - '01 Aprilia SR125 (Sold) '08 HONDA CBF600n (Sold) '96 CB500 (Sold) '01 FZS 1000 (Sold) '06 CB1300SA (Sold) '07 CB600F Hornet (Sold) - '93 Suzuki Savage LS400 (Sold) '98 Honda VTR1000 Firestorm (Sold) '05 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '01 FZS1000 Fazer (Sold) 2016 Harley Davidson Street Bob SE (Sold) '02 Kawasaki ZX9R (Sold) '98 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '04 Suzuki Bandit 1200s (Sold) '13 Yamaha FZ1-N |

I quite like that!
Edit to add: You've had a fair few bikes in the past. How does this one compare? It seems a totally different choice from your usual. |
