Short report -
Trackday was with MSV, my favourite organisers. Sensible rules, friendly organisation. Weather was cracking the flags all day. 6 sessions (gave the last one a miss due to fatigue) about 110 miles.
Put myself in intermediates due to riding the behemoth R1150R. Last time I rode in anger at Cadwell was on a 82bhp, 105kg Yamaha v twin TZ so the 95bhp 240kg (dry) BMW was a bit of a change. Unsurprisingly it was pretty slow on the straights, saw 120mph on Park straight but it was absolutely planted in the fast corners. Managed to grind the stand down, then the footpeg blobs and finally touched a cylinder head down. Far enough back off a bit.
The most surprising thing was the brakes, some of the best I've experienced on a bike, braking between 200 and 100 for Park. Sure the telelever front end helps.
Its a heavy old girl to throw about, arms, shoulders and legs aching now.
Got in the house, bike in garage and 5 minutes later it pissed it down.
Just goes to prove you don't need the latest superbike or a trackday special to have a hoot and enjoy yourself.
