Hello all, my first post, please be gentle with me ...
I'm looking to buy an early model R1, hoping it to be more of an investment than anything else in all honesty, I'm hoping to view a 2000 model within the next few days
Is the 2000 model a good one to go for? Thought of as maybe an iconic R1 example of the future ?
This is the bike I'm interested in, sensible opinions much appreciate, overpriced ? , I'm willing to listen
Thanks in advance

That's fucking expensive. I spent that on a 2011 GSXR1000.

I don't care how mint it is, it's less refined and older than mine and I'd not pay more than 2k for it Laughing

The 1998 ones are soughtafter not the 2000 ones, and even then £3k for a good one.

If you humour this idiot and pay £7k for a £2k bike, then prices will just skyrocket for the rest of us. Don't bloody do it!

What kind of chomp keeps an R1 for 16 years and rides 1 tank of petrol a year out of it?

He probably starts it up on his drive, revs the fuck out of it and does burnouts, so he changes the tyres after 2700 miles of taking it to the MOT station Shocked Shocked Shocked

No doubt he's been saying that for 2 1/2 years, since it got its last MOT and the road tax was actually transferable.

Nobody has been daft enough to fall for it. Until now. Cometh the hour, cometh the mug.

The R1 is very overpriced, my neighbour bought a fairly low mileage 50th anniverary R1 with a tonne of extras for about £4000 - £4500.

It's certainly not worth 5k more than this, even with the mileage being a lot lower.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-r1-/222221510370?hash=item33bd6f26e2:g:ru4AAOSwqfNXpe5U

2001 R1's should fetch 2-3k paying over 3k is folly, 7k is insanity, unless it has 20k of extras, which it wont have.

I believe it was a 2006 R1. had near rearsets, akrapovic cans and had been on a dyno and still was at least £2000 less than the above bike

Can I call out the mileage on the R1?

How many people live 1/2 mile from a MOT Station? Unless you trailer-ed/Vanned the bike over?

May I suggest 2 sets of clocks?

hmmmmm 180 miles since last MOT in 2014 but it hasn't left his house/showroom, that's a lot of wheeling it around the garden.

Hi,

Your adverts list the bike as having a new MOT but according to the .Gov history check it was last MOT'd in 2014?

Thanks

Jon

My 5JJ 2001 'Y' registered R1 cost me £4000 eleven years ago and came with a whole host of extras already bolted on,as well as all of the original parts

https://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Honda%20750/My%20bikes/20160508_094913_zpsiqqiruyq.jpg

It had 2250 miles on the clock and had just been MoT'd just before I took over ownership.

Excellent bike Thumbs Up

But I would not pay anywhere near £4,000 for a bike that that in the advert now,let alone £7k Thumbs Down
