A few of us SE lot turned up to Lydden Hill for a day out on track. Myself, Carvel, Groovylee, Bishbash II and Pigeon.
Carvel and I transported our bikes down there in the back of a hired pickup truck.

With the gang.

After the first few sessions, getting used to being on track for the first time, the tyres started getting their race face on.

I went into the intermediates group, along with Bishbash, Carvel and Groovylee (Pigeon was in novices) and although I got overtaken a bit, I held up pretty well and certainly wasn't the slowest. I had a few good laps against an RSV, another ninja and made easy work of a slower R1.
Had a bum-clenching moment coming around the big sweeping right hander to find a bike laying in the middle of the track in front of me. Red flags came out a second or so later.
Awesome day though and would definitely do again.

I'm sure some of the others will be along with their pics soon too.
An onboard FB video of the final session of the day can be viewed here.
My 15 year old Ninja bought a few months ago performed extremely well - a great little bike for the track. I know I need to work on my 'hanging off' a bit better for cornering positioning, but for my first time I was happy. Didn't crash (did see a few though!) so happy days. Rode about 78 miles on track in total that day ____________________ Yamaha RXS 100 > Honda CD 250 > Honda Hornet 600 > Honda CBR 600RR > Yamaha RXS 100 > Kawasaki ZX6R J2 > Yamaha FZ1 |

Yup, awesome day, really enjoyed it on the GSXR, took it's track virginity away, although grip was an issue at Lydden I found the rear was sliding out on exit of most corners. I tried changing the pressures in the tyres but it didn't make much difference, so I put up with it.... Either way lots of fun was had.
I thouroughly enjoyed watching Grooveylee and Doovy getting super nervous prior to the first session, then seeing them on track and then seeing their faces full of 'OMG that was awesome' after the first session. Carvel and Pigeon had the same responses, but looked like they had their nerves under control.
Heres some footage;
Couple of trackside videos of Pigeon (black SV Busa + white lid)

This one features Groovey Lee for a few seconds from the start (R6 on the left) then Doovy @ 4:10 and meself on the white GSXR being hunted down by the camera guy (R1)

Carvel appears to be showing Pigeon how great the GSXR looks from the rear and that he will be studdying that view throughout the day...

Pigeon obviously tyred and wanted to go home, or was it that someone pressured him into packing up. Personally, I think he just needs to get a grip

And I caught these two pikeys nicking bikes from the track, no doubt they will swap them for some dags and go tarmacing after;

Was good to be back on track again and especially with this lot, a great bunch of people.
