Hi, I put a post previously regarding what bike to get. However I am no nearer what bike to get, since then I have bought RST leathers, boots and HJC helmet ( what's your opinion on these helmets? ) and still no bike, I can't seem to find one that I really think, wow! Well for the A2 licence anyway, what would you guys recommend for around 2500-3000 moneys?

Fazer 600

I have no personal experience with anything more than a CBF125 but it (the Fazer) is what I've settled on when I go for my A2 in 6 months.

Opinion on what helmet? You've failed to mention a model.

Only leathers? What weather do you plan to ride in?

Recommendation on the bike depends on a load of factors, you might want to include more details before something that's suited to the type of riding you'll be doing can be mentioned.

Nothing about A2 bikes are inspiring you can get far more for your money on the market when you have A and can ride anything than you would pumping the same amount into an old workhorse because 47hp limit, rules, blah blah.

CB500F,CB500X,CB500R,MT-07,MT-03,Z300,Z250 so on and so forth. Go look at getting a brand new bike on finance with a decent deposit if you want something shiny otherwise just buy an old hack until your restrictions up.

I have no idea why anyone would buy a bike such as a cbr500 when you can get an older, cheaper, faster and better made bike such as a Fazer 600.

I assume you have actually passed your A2 now.
Otherwise there's no point worrying about a bike.

2500-3000?

1000 and bank the other two grand for the big bike later on.

Helmet that fits and allows you to not hit things.

Well let's see, no bike because there ain't a wow factor or any bike where riding actually produces those wows?

It's not that difficult, stop over thinking it, buy something and ride it - get more experience, and if you don't like what you buy first off chop it in for something else. Heck my first bike was amazing when I first started riding, but it soon got swapped out 5 months or so afterwards. Nothing in the rules to say you've got one bike for life you know.

There's handfuls of dozens of good bikes out there and any one of them will give you more enjoyment than sitting at your keyboard pondering your choice.

All 12+ years old, and if you refer to bodyguards recent issues not all that clear cut with regards to being an eligible A2 bike.
