My 2001 CBR600f is uncomfrtable after 100 miles or so, my ass and legs are in agony. I usually ride long distance with a pillion and she gets the pain too.

Although the CBR is a sports bike it's supposed to be comfortable. I've seen seat covers you can buy and fit yourself, however the quality is questionable and the finish depends on your own ability to fit a seat.

I'm now looking at taking my seat to a professional who will fit real leather and will pad the seat with memory foam to increase comfort and will also add design features all for about £200.

Has anyone had similar problems or had their seat re-covered?

Thanks

I'm curious about why you think leather would be a more comfortable seat covering? What you really need is a gel pad or gel inserted into the seat underneath the cover.

The standard seat is like a synthetic waterproof material, leather seats i've been on have always been more comfortable beacuse it's soft.

Gel is used in some seats however i'm told memory foam is softer and more supportive.

Some say it's a sports tourer but its not brilliant at touring and it's very sporty (has the power of 600cc supersports of that age) so i call it and a sports bike, a sports bike with a center stand and a banana seat. Smile

Google Sargent, Seat Concepts and Corbin Wink

The trick is in the width, those seats listed above are made wider to spread the weight of the rider better. They are better sculpted and have better padding.

Not cheap mind Sad

I know a Good trimmer but it depends on where you are based, it's not in your profile.

I have the same bike, and the same problem.

Airhawk. Sorted.

Got one on eBay but tbh if I lost it I'd probably be happy to pay full price for another.

Just bear in mind you'll be a bit higher off your seat than usual so it will feel a bit odd at first

Several people that I know have had very good results from Lee at Viking

https://viking-motorcycle-seats.co.uk/

If you bought yourself a spare seat,as others have done and have that modified, then, when you sell the bike, you can sell the modified seat separately Wink

Vinyl gets hard in the sun, and so does the foam underneath it. If that's the original seat, it's time to re-cover it. You will notice a difference.

If you re-cover it, don't forget to give the foam underneath it a light sanding first (not much - just like keying a surface before painting). The outer part of the foam becomes a paper-thin hard layer over time.
