Because they're already paying Dorna for the rights to host it. Yes, without a track to run it on.
Actually, they're committed to keep paying them until at least 2018, even with no sign of a track being build by then.
Best case, they might have a mud-pit to host a motocross event. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I'm trying to find any other info, and it seems that all they have at the moment is a CGI model and £2m grant, £7.35m loan and no private investors. They say the track was supposed to be finished this year. They also made sure there are a plenty of sites promoting the non-existent track.
Wiki wrote: | In August 2014, after the circuit had signed a contract with motorcycle Grand Prix organisers Dorna to host the events from 2015—2019 (with a possible extension to 2024), circuit official Chris Herring confirmed that the facility would not be ready for the 2015 event and an alternative venue at Donington Park, England was chosen by early September. In 2015 Donington Park announced that they would not be able to host the 2015 British MotoGP due to not having received payment by Circuit of Wales backers. It was subsequently decided that Silverstone should host the event for 2015 and 2016. |

Um... we know they do. They're cheerfully taking money from two venues for running one race. Can't really blame them for that. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

"We need assurances that none of the money which is being lost on hosting a racing event in England has come from Welsh taxpayers".
“Silverstone has not been designed for performance bikes nor is it a modern leisure facility. However, it is the only circuit currently available in the UK at which to host MotoGP".
Except for it being re-designed in 2010 for MotoGP, and a new paddock/hospitality area being built |

This story gets weirder every day.
Turns out HotVDC bought a loss making chassis company for £400K in 2012, which has just gone bust after (wait for it) shutting up their Buckinghamshire shop in anticipation of moving to the circuit in Wales.
So to date, the only jobs created by the Circuit of Wales have been in marketing, finance and CGI renders RainPal. They've destroyed actual motorcycle related jobs. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

And it just keeps delivering (not the circuit, the story).
Lord Kinnock tries to browbeat the local council into stumping up £50 million, 'accidentally' writing it on House of Lords headed paper while acting as a private consultant[*].
The response was, politely, "GTFO."
[*] Apparently he's not getting paid for shilling them, even though he said he was, but we can believe him now even though he lied 'accidentally' mis-recorded it on the register of interests. Briefly. For "four or five" years. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Daily update: bawwwing intensifies.
HotVDC wrote: | “We are grateful to Lord Kinnock and all those many parties who are working tirelessly, often unremunerated, to ensure this project goes ahead.
“People in Blaenau Gwent and elsewhere reject the constant undermining and negative attitude of a very small minority outside the community and want to focus on advancing the great benefit that this scheme will bring to Wales.
“We make absolutely no apologies to seeking from all parties positive and definitive action to deliver this transformational project.” |
Ah, yes, the locals are demanding that hundreds of millions of their money be sunk into this quagmire. It's those outsiders with their outside naysaying that are the problem.
Sort of like a more literate Adam Aarons... ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Daily chuckles:
"The Circuit of Wales is located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park immediately to the north of Ebbw Vale. The £425m development covers 830 acres and represents the most significant capital investment programme in motorsport, leisure, automotive, exhibition and cultural infrastructure in the UK in the last 50 years.
Is it? Does it?
Given the location and the prevalent weather, I'm now convinced that the hold-up can be explained by them being dependent on RainPal.
A CGI solution for their CGI track. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yet more dirty laundry being aired.
Taffy beancounters spotted that Michael Carrick was given £1 million of public money in order to pay Michael Carrick for providing consultancy services to Michael Carrick advising how Michael Carrick could get even more money out of taffy.gov.
Ignored by Leek-Labour ministers, of course, the swill must flow.
On the issue of some of that swill trickling back in the form of 'Labour party event sponsorship', the government response is: "we can't be bribed for THAT amount". ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Nobody seems to know why we need another under-utilised circuit. Even if one of the existing ones needed to be completely rebuilt in order to add the required amount of corporate hospitality zones, surely that would still be cheaper and simpler than building a whole new one in the rainy arse end of nowhere. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
