I recently switched to Chrome, and since day 1 when I open BCF (I have it set to Keep me logged in), there are allegedly no new posts, even if I haven't been on the page for 12 hours or more.

but if I read through a few threads new posts will start to appear, then if I come back in a couple of hours there will be orange dots at lots of different threads.

Is this some kind of bug with the forum or is it Chrome?

Hi

Not sure if there is an issue at the moment. I am having the opposite problem. If I read a thread then currently it almost never marks that thread as read.

All the best

Katy

I've been having the same issue as you both.

Log on for the first time and it'll show up as all posts read. Then, as I've read posts, it'll sometimes show them up as unread.

Thought it was just my phone playing tricks tbh.

The server carries out maintenance around 3 or 4am.

This resets the "New posts" tables for your account.

If you visit bcf on another computer using your account, the return to your usual computer then you will see new posts since your last visit from the other pc.

It's important to know which w-o-o-d-e-n-f-u-r-n-i-t-u-r-e-d-o-t-c-o-d-o-t-u-k posts are really new - I wouldn't want to read the same one twice.

You chaps keep confusing me with stinkwheel, I'm as intimidating as Bill Oddie.

Oh, incidentally, I'm also seeing this no-unread behaviour on Chrome Version 49.0.2623.87 (64-bit) on Lunix Mint, but not Firefox.

Just a quick update to this.... turns out it's Chrome that is the problem.

I log in using Chrome (after 12-13 hours), there are allegedly no new posts.... if I log in using Firefox at the same time or just after trying on Chrome there are no new posts.... BUT if I log in with Firefox first then it shows all the new posts Confused Thinking

Guess I'll just have to get used to using 2 browsers for different sites

Well, let's deal with that: have an Off Topic.

I too get that but not with every thread. I'm about a dozen pages behind with the "What Grinds Your Gears?" thread though. It refuses to acknowledge that I've read it.

It really gr... Well, you get the idea.
