Hi folks. I wanted to sell my Cannondale SL1. It is a 2013 model and has only been taken out the house once for a 3
mile ride. So really it is in awesome condition, even the tyres still have their injection-moulding things but I have no idea what to ask for it. I think it cost about £950 when I got it so was thinking of advertising for £500. Do you think this is asking a bit much? Even though it is so new and pristine? I don't want to put off buyers by advertising for a daft price. But I know nothing about second-hand bike prices and I don't want to get ripped off either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Thumbs Up

eBay is a good price to start to get an idea on price.

Yeah I have been checking it but my model doesn't seem to crop up often. I had it listed on Gumtree but got sick of nutjobs asking if I wanted to swap for a lawnmower or Sony Gamestation or take £100 for it!

Bikes depreciate loads, they are typically worth about 1/3 of the retail price after just three years. Unless it's a 29" variation, they hold money pretty well.

I had it on there for £500 or offers. Some guy said it wasn't worth it as it was 3 years old but considering it hadn't really been used at all except for a 3 mile dry ride on a tarmac road, I thought it was a good price. Just got sick of the stupid offers. I stated in the ad' that I was selling as I have no interest in bicycles.. so some guy asks if I will swap for a road bike.. I will never use Gumtree again. Too much hassle from illiterate idiots on there.

Your bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, however shiney and
new it seems.
People don't want it at £500. People don't want it near £500.
Re-advertise £50 lower each time until you get a bite.
I'd wager £350 will be close.

If you're willing to box the bike up and courier it, it'll go for more.

£300-400 give or take £50 depending on how detailed your ad is and how good your photos are.

Here are what they've sold for on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Cannondale%20SL1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

eBay it on a 10 day auction starting at 99p with no reserve, cash on collection only. Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the advice. I've been in touch with a lad who had offered me £370 a couple of weeks ago and he is still interested so I will accept his offer.
