Renthal grips fitted & wheels and spindles in & torqued up. Just need to torque up the fork pinch bolts & i'm now waiting on some 5mm spacers to fit the calipers back on (which should hopefully be on my doormat when I get home after work)

https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy178/AzAndBikes/DEADA157-7C88-4748-AF41-E61DCB43EDC1_zps3kvtfzxr.jpg

I've also ordered a carbon Suzuki S sticker to cover the current green one on the tank (couldn't find a blue suzuki S sticker for tank online). I'll also be removing the preload adjusters & spraying them black when I find a allen key small enough to get them off.

Also put an offer in for a tank on eBay (after i'd already bought the tank sticker), so the current tank may well be coming off if all goes to plan.

Still waiting on the fairings, the seller is taking ages Rolling Eyes

Fairings are here! Will fit them after work today hopefully & clean the bike up a bit more, few more pictures...

The fairings didn't come with air duct covers, so it currently has the old green ones on.

I also won a tank on eBay bids for £71 which should arrive next week.

I'll be getting the air duct covers & front mudguard sprayed next week to in black and switching the tank over to one with an OEM scheme.

So bike is delayed for another couple of weeks & is currently sat in the garage looking sorry for itself with mismatch panels on.

I'd have left it how it was tbh.
But then I wouldn't have ever found the bargain used parts you did, as some of us never find bargains or are too fussy to take chances on secondhand stuff.

The main reason I'd have left that K5 as it was, is that while it'll be a damn fine road bike or track day beast, it's never going to be a bike id feel huge love and pride in, and want to make it all perfect and subtle and std.

And that's where we differ, I have huge love for this GSXR. Ridden it for 2 days and instantly fallen in love with it. Where as my current 954 Blade i've never really gelled with, even after 7 months of ownership.

Also, it's worked out at a very reasonable price for what i've got...

Bike : £3,250
Wheels, tyres and discs : £750
Fairings : £325
Airduct & Mudguard sprayed : £60
Tank : £70

-£330 (for original wheels and discs)

So for £4,125 i've got a K6 with 14k miles, FSH, Micron can & decat, ECU flashed (reads 170 at the wheel according to dyno print out), OZ wheels and a spare set of fairings & tank. Bargain imo.

Had some delays as the air ducts didn't come with the fairings.

Waiting on the tank I won on eBay, seller was taking the piss and wouldn't send the tank till the funds cleared on PayPal (new seller I'm assuming). Tank is now en route.

I'll take some more snaps tomorrow in the light.

Tank & rim tape on (awaiting rim tape nazi's), just need to spray the exhaust black again or polish it up, haven't decided yet. I still have other plans for the bike, but it's pretty much complete for this year.

Miles better, you need to change the front mudguard and possibly the hugger now though Wink

Also, are those original rear white panels? Seem to be missing the stripe, ala;

In fact the sides are different too Thinking

*goes off to check google images*

*edit*

Using my Google powers it seems both front side fairings are correct.

Yours are the k5 and mine are the k6 (which it is). Never noticed that before!

There is still a stripe missing from your rear though Razz

You're right, it's missing a strip for the tail end... never noticed it tbf - good spot!

Decal shopping I go... Also i'm certain they're not Chinese fairings. Has too much flex in the panels compared to rigid Chinese fairings.

I also plan to change the mudguard's to black too for now and then switch them to carbon one's eventually.

It has a lot of dinks in it, so I think if I polish it up they'll become even more noticeable. So black BBQ paint, when I can be arsed lol.

Eventually I'll replace it, not a huge fan of the looks of it. Although it does sound really nice. Would like either a Yoshi' tri oval, M4 (under slung) or a Racefit next. Keeping my eyes pealed for a decent second hand bargain.

Quick update...

Bought a few things:
Bar end mirrors (actually pretty good for a tenner!)
Carbon end can, carbon hanger & link pipe (£60 used bargain, will do until I can find a reasonably priced 300mm Carbon Yoshi TRS)
Pro Bolt blue chain adjust blocks
Blue undertray, because white is a ballache to clean.
Brembo RCS 19x18 & reservoir. Brakes on this GSXR are defo' one of it's weak spots, this should help.
Most of the above isn't fitted yet.

Bike's been amazing bar one issue*. I've been changing bikes every 6-12 months, but the GSXR I want to keep until it dies or I kill it, they really are amazing bikes.

*No bike is perfect, common issue on these GSXR's... Due to a poor design of the clutch, results in the clutch being starved of oil. When you get to the biting point and apply any decent amount of throttle the bike jerks pretty violently and sometimes stalls. To resolve this you fit the clutch wave washers out of a K7/8 and/or drill some holes in your clutch works too Shocked. Not too much of a nuisance, but it makes racing off the line impossible Sad

Most recent pic's I have:

https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy178/AzAndBikes/toy%20run_zps3jkgsmkc.png
(i'm aware some of my rim tape has come off)

You sir need a Yoshi Japan Tri-Oval. TRS looks too long for that shape IMO, although Stainless TRS is silly cheap. Circa £300.

I want a 300mm TRS, I believe that's the same look and size as the Yoshi Jap Tri-Oval, if not it looks the same.

TRS not available anymore for that machine (unless you can get a used one):

https://www.yoshimura-rd.com/shop/suzuki-gsx-r1000-2005-exhaust-systems-genuine-accessories.asp

TRC is the closest, IIRC it's 18 inches in length (ooo err).

Were it my money I'd consider the Yoshi JP Stainless tri-Oval dual exit for similar money to the TRC carbon. Your choice of course though. Thumbs Up

Been looking for a carbon Yoshi TRS with no luck. So settled with an Akra'. The thing was huge so I've cut it down.

Also got myself some silver spot calipers at a steal for £60 posted. Just need to order some braided lines and I can switch over the front brake setup.

Sorry, I know there's not many people interested but i'm doing this for me to look back over more than anything else.

Fitted since last photo posted: Silver spot calipers, Brembo 19x18 m/c, HEL red braided lines, Blue undertray (used to be white), Tygon rear brake res', Carbon fibre rear hugger and chain guards. I've also removed the white rim tape and tank grips.

Brembo master cylinder and the Yamaha monoblocks with some fresh SBS race sinter pads are a lethal combo. I can't even imagine what the 19x20 is like, as the 19x18 doesn't feel progressive as it's been described, it's extremely sharp from the initial bite with no play/sponginess in the lever.

How she's looking now...
https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy178/AzAndBikes/3944FD9A-9894-4B1C-879C-7D5C98D93319_zpsi2jfwhes.jpg

The wheels will be going white for the summer too hopefully...

Current:
https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy178/AzAndBikes/74B67D69-3A73-4DB9-8D10-B6C2F27F5764_zpsokh5r3m0.jpg

White wheels:
https://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy178/AzAndBikes/5edfcdab-6d48-47da-a7d6-f35cff245664_zpspvtzuuoo.png

The last bits left to do...
-Fit and buy; Healtech quick shifter, carbon fiber infill panel, rearsets & GB Racing engine covers
-Figure out why the bikes leaning so far over on the side stand
-I'm certain I have an oil leak, investigate. (will do this on the weekend, as it's urgent).
