I'm sorry to hear about your test.

I have a few techniques for taking the pressure off myself. One I use most commonly in situations like this is change your mind from it being a test to being practice before you get out on the road.

Personally I did my CBT, Mod 1 & Mod 2 all within a week and whilst I felt it was touch and go for me in terms of my readiness I just said to myself 'you've done well to come from never riding a bike to taking your Mod 1 in a week, so whatever happens it's an achievement. I then considered my test as practice and if I failed I'd learn from the experience and do it again' without feeling any embarrassment or disappointment.

You shouldn't be embarrassed you failed, you should simply and without emotion understand you didn't pass and instead of feeling bad, spend the time considering what you can do better next time and what you can learn from the experience.

Remember what Winston Churchill said; 'Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts'

So they don't grit test pads when it's frosty?
Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Would they share liability if you binned a school bike on the swerve, or expect the rider to take the 'road conditions' into account?

Seems odd they'd expect you to attain a certain speed, if in real life you wouldn't go that quick due to the road surface?

Aaaand, you'll smash it next time Op... Practice and relax, practice and relax

To be fair, test areas tend to be far better than road surfaces in terms of grip in dodgy conditions, for tyres anyway.

They're a mind bogglingly expensive surface designed to provide appropriate friction in bad weather (within limits).

Allegedly slightly over a million quid per centre with most of that cost being the blacktop.

I'd practiced both ways before my MOD1 and chose to do the 3 point turn on test day. This was mainly on account of me already being a little out of breath from nerves before the test had started

Don't think they spent £8 on the test centre at Kirkham near Blackpool. It's an old VOSA test station where they've laid a few cones down and called it a day. I almost got lost riding around the random building in the middle when performing a controlled stop! Embarassed
