They would have an account with the manufacturers so they would simply return the item unused.

Warranty claims get passed up the chain.

So you claim the parts off the shop, they claim it back off the supplier, they claim it back off the importer, the importer claims it back off the manufacturer.

If the supplier has supplied the parts to the shop under warranty and you don't collect them, you just gave the shop free parts

depends,

if repairing something on the bike that is a standard part, say the starter motor then as the dealer you have to fit it before you get paid back by the manufacturer as the warranty claim will include a minimal labour payment to replace the part, so yes the dealer would have to pay for it, but they you don't get a credit until confirming they've fitted it, and often have to send the faulty part back or keep it for inspection, and if you can't find the faulty part if asked then the claim goes out the window.

accessories, if you buy a genuine accessory say a bar end mirror and it fails then the dealer doesn't get paid to replace it, so they can close the claim and get paid for the cost of the part

The shop get stuck with the part can return fro restocking fee 20% to 50% depending on part etc

Shop will be royally pissed with owner if it is an expensive part

when I was in the motor trade we tended to give the person a part from stock as claims could take a few weeks and customer couldn't have a car stuck on his ramps awaiting parts and stopping him earning

and then put the claim in and either get the credit for the new part or another part foc

some of our suppliers wouldn't pay labour but would give us more foc parts

this was after market parts though normally not genuine and was cars
