Recieved a letter today saying that my bike (2015 Vstrom 650) has been identified as requiring to be recalled.

"Suzuki has identified that due to a lack of heat resistant capacity of stator coil, the insulation material or wiring for the stator may be damaged by engine heat and a short-circuit between wiring may occur. Continued use of the M/C with this condition may cause the generating current of the stator coil to be reduced and insufficient charging to the battery may result. In the worst case, it can lead to the engine stalling during running and/or the engine may be impossible to restart due to low battery voltage."

Blah blah blah.

Work will be done FOC, will take up to 2.5 hours. Must be done by a official Suzuki dealer.

Hubby’s 650XT that he bought in September, got the recall letter yesterday too.
It had the 600 mile service during Xmas week. I hope he doesn’t hang around again while this gets fixed. He keeps buying stuff while he’s there! Laughing

This happened to my mate with his 2011(one of the early new gen stroms) so the issue has been about for a while. Nice to see they've finally acknowledged it. Cost him a new stator.

5 - actually 6 - years to finally admit there's a problem. BMW would be proud.
