Their reputation will catch up with them one day - but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they had set up another operation under a different name as a contingency plan.

With any real luck I won't have to make a claim, that could possibly be the worst scenario ever... EVER!

Can't imagine how bad they would fuck that up.

My claim went fine and I'm with MCE.. sometimes you do wait a while in the queue, though. Laughing

If you are at fault then Christ help the third party.
But if you are looking for a settlement or for those twits to 'act' on your behalf then better get a string of rosary beads out too.

I just signed up on the forum cause felt compelled to share my story. I'm with MCE (second bike now) and this time i decided to pay by DD. After the 1st month, I noticed that my premiums were going up (by 10 pounds a month or so) and naturally gave them a call. The waiting time is crazy long (20 min in late afternoon, about 5 min early morning) but I spoke to a nice person who looked at my problem, told me I had a chat with someone from MCE and decided to upgrade my policy, which i didn't remember doing. The person said they had to listen to the tapes and it would take 48 hrs. I called 5 days later, they said it's on their to do list for today and they would call me back. 3 hours later, they called back, admitted that it was their mistake and will refund me the money and correct the premiums.
2 learning points:
1- feels good to win against "the man"
2- look, you can't expect to get cheap insurance AND brilliant customer care relations. They are under staffed, they will make mistakes and they will take time to correct them. But they are willing to admit when they made a mistake and any mistakes is because of clerical errors, not because it's an evil insurance. I'll stick with them...

wasnt the case in my experience, they made a mistake, i pointed the mistake out, they wouldnt budge an inch. I was so close to losing my license, my job and personal freedom and at one point i had already accepted it and i was extremely depressed. They are a bunch of useless cunts.

Just FYI

MCE are probably the worst insurance company ive ever delt with, if you pay your policy monthy on credit, they will screw you over.

This.

I had a similar thing and the extra £20 was a charge for paying monthly - this is on top of the extra interest for paying monthly in credit.

I decided to just pay up front, but come the end of the year I may pay a little more to move elsewhere.
That said, there were quite good in changing my policy when I bought a new bike, but I expected an admin fee for a mid term adjustment this time!

Hi co-riders,
I am with MCE third year. No problem at all, they quoted the price and I paid. Quick and easy. Easy up to now. I had a accident on my scooter, black ice in the morning, no one else involved. Thanks God. Bike is mainly cosmetically damaged, and my boots and helmet ready to bin, also my leathers was cut off by ambulance crew.
First contact with MCE I made 02.12.2016 to claim my leathers and helmet, but i was not sure about the bike condition, so I contact honda dealer, where i bought that bike and they checked the scooter with quote about £1300 costs of repair. I was back in touch with MCE, who said i can not claim leathers and helmet if I do not claim a bike too. Under that I agreed, but they said the scooter have to be checked under MCE aproved garage.
After few phone calls, how they doing with my claim, i was told the scooter will be written off, they have to just decided which category.Week after I made another contact with MCE, and I was told the bike will not be written off, is repairable.
As at the beginning I told them i do not want claim the scooter (voluntary access £950, yes my mistake,so not a worthy).
And what happened next they charged me £270 pound for keeping the bike in "their" garage and I was told I will get my bike back today or tomorrow. From the garage they contact me and asked me if I do repair under the claim. Surprised me again, so I made a call to MCE what is going on, and after on hold I was told, garage will contact me again,(up to now, not happen, they are closed now), and also MCE said I will get my scooter next week.
So make that clear: I was pushed to claim my scooter instead just my leathers and helmet.
On MCE request my scooter was moved to their approved garage then charge me for that £270 (my honda dealer charged me for check £22, and for pick off £25 even the dealer is few times faraway.)
I was told the scooter will be written off and then they change their decision.
Some off them was rude on the phone, not all, some.
It is more then five weeks after first contact.

I made a official complain to MCE, so they investigate by them self now. Also i asked for a copy of my reports, communications, will see.
I will be in touch and let you know, how this continue...
Have good time.

So, MCE are either stitching you up with a £950 excess, or with a £270 recovery / evaluation / storage fee for using the garage that they insisted that you use? Plus they won't pay your leathers and helmet claim unless you pay that £950 excess?

Wow, that's a new low, even by their standards.

Good on you for complaining to MCE and getting the ball rolling on a complaint to the Ombudsman. I hope you've read your contracts carefully. Be aware that any term with is clearly unfair should be unenforceable in a contract of adhesion (take it or leave it), particularly one that you're not shown until you agree to it.

So general consensus is that MCE were cunts, still are cunts, and will probably continue being cunts for an indefinite period.

They were definitely cunts when I was insuring with them, about the same time as OP.

I was with them for 3 years. Never claimed and they were giving me 15 months cover for the price of 12. I cannot confirm or deny they were cunts as they weren't to me. However they were by far and away cheap.

Ahh, cheap cunts. They're the worst kind..

Never used them myself but, with the ridiculous excess they always demand from me whenever I get quotes from them, I'm never likely to.
