Evening all,

Having just lost one of my keys for my ER6 (twat yes, but I have a spare and the code) I have decided to get a few keys for all my bikes as I currently only have one key each for the CG125 and the CX500. I want to get them cut to code as the CG and CX keys are a little worn and any I've had cut previously for the CG haven't been great because of this.

I was thinking about using https://www.keysinthepost.com as they seem reasonably priced and cater for all of the bikes. Anyone have any experience with them or have any suggestions for who else to use?

Neither the CG or the CX require transponder keys, and I don't think the ER6 does either. Tried my local Timpsons (two branches) but both were shit and wouldn't do bike keys, or use blanks they didn't supply themselves. The only other key place I know of locally can't cut to code.

Strange that Timpsons won't cut your keys. As our local one has masses of bike keys on their rack.
I far prefer to take actual key in to get them cut.

So simply take key to other shop and let them cut it to their blanks.

Trouble is the the CG key is quite worn so when I get copies of that done elsewhere the copies are not very accurate and whilst they work you need to sit and jiggle them about for a bit which is a pain. The CX key is also a bit worn but not as bad. The spare ER6 key is slightly bent (I crashed with that one and the tank bag bent it) so I don't know whether that will make a difference. Hence why I thought new ones from the code would be a better idea.

They couldn't do one for my ER5. I tried a couple of independents and found one that carried the correct blanks.

I thought new keys were a bit crap to start with? They can normally still make copies with bent or broken keys.

These were really crap. I suspect they didn't use quite the right blank tbh.

Looking at their website, they seem to have a key for nearly every bike made from 1970 and some even before that. All sounds a bit too good to be true, but hey it is the 21st century.

The name however puts me off. Reminds me of your cheque is in the post which was synonymous with I wont cum in your mouth.

That's my concern. If I do order from them I'll have it delivered to my office address.

My bike came with one key, I had one made by a local timpsons who were happy to tweak the key a couple of times to ensure it worked on every lock on the bike.

I've since had a copy of the copy that's fine, and another copy of the original that came with the bike - all from the same timpsons

Many timpsons are franchises so that might be what's stopping them doing a bike key for you
